Groups and sambaSIDList
I have a problem with one samba 3.0.24 pdc using ldap with nss etc, sharing works fine, but ownership and the security tab seems crippled, and usrmgr.exe complains about "the specified local group does not exist" (of course without saying which group) so I dived in to check I found filters like this one below in the ldap log - is that to support nested groups? There are no groups with

Group Members and usersidlist problem
I have been setting up samba 3.0.20b on Solaris 9 with a Sun Java System Directory Server v5.2 and have hit a couple of problems. The first is that if I run the command /net rpc group MEMBERS Staff -U administrator after prompting for the password it just gives the result of a blank line. Looking through the ldap logs it appears that samba finds the correct group mapping but then looks up the

Samba 3.0.22-11 as PDC with openLDAP 2.3.19 => Problem with Shares
Hi there! To set up a samba PDC with openLDAP on my openSUSE 10.1 x86_64 I followed this howto: http://en.opensuse.org/Howto_setup_SUSE_10.1_as_Samba_PDC Every service seems to be running now but now I'm stuck. I was able to join a clean Windows XP Pro test machine to my Domain and I'm able to log on as normal LDAP user. The home-share is mounted and even a login script (actually just

Samba 3.6 problems with idmap rid
Hi! I am using mainly Samba 3.5 on CentOS, and I was very pleased with idmap_rid backend for SID-to-RID mappings. But on Solaris 10, I can only use 3.6 because OpenCSW ships only 3.6. Problem is, things are changed and are not working as expected... Here is my config on RHEL Samba 3.5: [global] workgroup = WINDOMAIN realm = WINDOMAIN.LOCAL server string = localserver

samba with ldap and ldapsam:trusted possibly
Greetings Curious about a couple of things. In a group object, is it required, better or no effect to maintain the sambaSIDList attribute in a synchronized fashion with the memberUID (list) attribute. In other words keeping the two lists pointing to the same list of person objects?? Similarly are there any possible negative side effects if the sambaPrimaryGroupSID attribute in a person object

Binary package hint: samba Hi I've just intalled Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS in order to run Samba/Ldap PDC but I,ve encountered an error which looks like a bug 3905 that was fixed in samba 3.0.23 according to changelog. I tried two different configuration both ends in the same moment with an error. first one is exact copy of solution from chapter 5 from "Samba3 by example". Second

Samba trusts, mapping issue, and pam crap domain
I am running Samba ver 3.0.37 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for the backend for both samba and unix accounts. Assume the samba SMBPDC is called "PDC." I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode for backwards compat.) mystified by interaction between krb5.conf, smb.conf, and winbindd
I am stumped here. I am a novice at using samba to do MS Active Directory stuff, but I have read everything I could find in the HOWTO collection and on the linux.samba cache of the list and am still stuck. A bit of background... I have set up a Windows 2003 server as a domain controller here and configured it to be the DNS for a ficticious domain for internal use only. The domain functional

Nested Groups
Hi all, I'm not able to create localgroups as described in "docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/groupmapping.html" I have tested Samba 3.2.5 and 3.2.6 on Debian lenny. As usual I am using openldap as backend. First I have tested with smbldap-tools, then I have switched to ldapsam:editposix = yes ldapsam:trusted = yes and removed all the script entries from smb.conf.

samba3+openldap:Problem during the LDAP search
Hi, I'm trying to use samba3+openldap as our PDC. I installed the server using CentOS4.4 single service CD and then use yum install openldap-servers to install openldap server. I already ran "smbpasswd -w secret". When I invoked "smbpasswd -a root" the following error showed up: [root@localhost samba]# smbpasswd -a root smbldap_search_suffix: Problem during the LDAP

smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP when not root
I'm using Samba 3.0.14a as a PDC with an LDAP backend. I am having trouble using the Windows "User Manager for Domains" tool. As an example, I shall be looking at the "Domain Users" group. Whenever I try modifying anybody's group membership, I get the error message: "The following error occurred changing the properties of the global group Domain Users: The

If I can force an anonymous connection from Windows, then I should be OK. (Again, this share does not contain information that needs much protection.) Thanks
