Samba can't find child pid - remove_child_pid
So, after a failed drive and an array rebuild, I finally got samba to run after some problems with corrupted tdb files. Now I am left with some errors about which I cannot find much information: >From log/messages: Jul 24 19:14:04 yoda smbd[15585]: [2009/07/24 19:14:04, 0] smbd/server.c:remove_child_pid(324) Jul 24 19:14:04 yoda smbd[15585]: Could not find child 28637 -- ignoring

smbd_smb2_request_incoming: client read error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_RESET
I'm running samba4 as an AD DC, built from git (built ~3 days ago), with about ~20 Windows 8 clients. I've noticed a number of errors in the logs, pasted below. That group of errors repeats pretty consistently for a lot of different client machines. Fwd: Re: Samba Freezes accessing shares/ low performance
Thanks Volker, I've Changed the values as you suggested, i noticed that the default value for max xmit is much less 16384! Still I feel like the performance is very slow indeed. This because on server, a can make copys arround 8gb/s! and in samba is all so slow and it freezes as i sad many times... Can you have a second look to the log, to see if you see anything strange? I'm putting

Version controlled (git) Maildir generated by Dovecot
Hello Adam, and the dovecot list Just a question, I hate to pollute the thread, so feel free to push these questions into a new thread if deemed necessary. So as you can guess I'm a bit of a newb here, so rather obvious questions are about to arrive.... As you are using GIT for your archive (which is a cool idea by the way) I'm sure you are well aware that not all files types play nicely

After update to 3.6.1 -> smbd dies often ? massive brl and lock database cleanup scheduled log entries
Hi ! We updated our NT4 domain-server samba from 3.0.27a to newest available 3.6.5 version this weekend. I've done various testing in a VM to make sure that everything is working under 3.6.5 and it all seems to run well. After updating the live system to 3.6.5 the following log entries occur really often, but users don't have any noticable problems. ( Tried to find matching entries in

What could cause an "unclean shutdown" of process?
Hello everyone, I've been experiencing many problems recently with windows software parsing large text files stored on a samba share (smb version 3.6.3 on ubuntu12.04). The software, which are running on windows XP stations, are crashing quite often. I notice this in the log.smbd at the time of the crash: [2012/08/28 17:25:21.980609, 3] smbd/server.c:629(smbd_parent_housekeeping) Printcap

Is there a way to source from a specific Git repository without hardcoding the location everywhere?
Folks, A small group of us are working together to develop a set of R functions to support data management and analysis using Eclipse/StatET in a Windows environment. We are using Git/EGit for version control. We work within our own repository and occasionally push to a common remote location. I'd like to have the code source files from the 'local' git repository without

Version controlled (git) Maildir generated by Dovecot
Hi Everybody, I'd like to start archiving e-mails by moving them to a server with running Dovecot. I installed "dovecot-core" and "dovecot-imapd" (version 2.3.4.1) on Debian 10. One of a few configurations I made is to use Maildir: # grep '^mail_location = ' /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir I successfully moved some e-mails (at

Samba 3.5.7-3.5.1-2573 not able to shutdown old processes which results in locked files
Dear Samba users, Samba tries to close old connections on a new session setup from the same machine, but fails. Those connections result in locked files which the users can't access - i.e. save or open. I have to kill them via "kill -9 pid". smb.conf: http://pastebin.com/bYRFJwu0 smb.inc: http://pastebin.com/JV9KyDyA Using "reset on zero vc = yes" seems to reduce the

Internal and Panic Errors after raid rebuild
Good morning! I am at a loss on this one. I had a drive go down and I had to bring the server down to fix and reinitialize the array, I can't keep samba running. I have included the log file entries below. Thinking that maybe something with my samba installation was corrupted, I went ahead and re-installed the samba rpm's but that has had no effect. My searches haven't turned up

Crashes on File Access - Post Solaris Patching
I recently patched my Solaris server and suddenly my Samba service is not working correctly. When Anyone accesses a samba share the samba daemon panics and shuts down. Solaris than restarts the system, unless there are multiple panics simultaneously than the service is placed in maintenance mode. The SAMBA server is a stand alone supporting a dozen end users for a large file store behind the
