Hello everyone. So, I come to you because I have a little problem when setting up my domain controller based on CentOS 6.5 and Samba 4.1.6. Everything works well, except for one small detail, which in my case blocking me. I would like to automatically generate the home directory of the user during the first connection (from Win or Linux), but the problem is that for some unknown reason,

Samba 4 AD - Samba Fails to Start, hdb_samba4_create_kdc (setup KDC database) failed
Hello to the Samba Mailing List, This is my first post, so please, should I commit any faux pas, nudge me in the right direction and I will adjust accordingly. I'm experiencing a complete failure of the PDC in a Samba 4 AD Domain I've deployed for a client. Samba failed a few days ago and I've been unable to resolve the issue on my own. Google searches are leading me in circles,

Generic smb.conf file
Hi, Does anybody know where I can get an untouched smb.conf file? When I used samba-swat, it rewrote smb.conf and deleted out the comments that was in the original file that came with samba. I don't know the difference between ntvfs and s3fs. Which one should I use for folder redirection? localhost isn't the name of the ad dc, at least that's not what I intended. How do I change it without reprovisioning? Can you provide a link to some documentation? Thank you. On 12/19/14 3:33 PM, Rowland Penny wrote: > On 19/12/14 22:17, Tim wrote: >> Try to give your

Variable substitution in smb.conf
Hello everyone, I have approx. 1000 users accessing a samba server, each with there own user dir. Currently I have samba set up to map users to /basedir/%u but because there are so many users, I want to break up the directory structure. I would like to take the first two letters of each username connecting, and map their directories to a subdir. If I've been confusing in this request,

FreeBSD 8.1 & Samba4 alpha11 domain controller - cldapd bind problem
I've been trying to run samba4 alpha11 on a FreeBSD 8.1 system as a domain controller but I'm having trouble starting the cldapd server. For some reason it won't bind to the specified address or interface whatever I specify in smb.conf. I managed running the provision script without any trouble but I have no clue how to solve this problem in order to start the samba server. bitrot#

Samba 4: Workstations unable to join, "The specified network name is no longer available"
Hi, first of all, sorry for my poor english. I have installed Samba4 (stable tarball) on a fresh Centos 6.3 x64 server, with the "classicupgrade" command. With great difficulty I managed to correctly configure the DNS server (bind). "kinit", "smbclient" and "samba_dnsupdate - verbose - all-names" give the desired output. Starting samba daemon, this is the

max log size setting ignored
I work at a university and we are in the process of moving basically everything, and I mean everything to samba, eg.: bash-2.03$ /usr/local/samba/bin/smbstatus | wc -l 1669 As you might imagine my log.smbd grows quite rapidly. Even at log level 1 it routinely exceeds 5 Meg. a day and then is renamed log.smbd.old and a new log.smbd is created. NO MATTER WHAT I SET "max log size"
