Hi!
I have some problems with my new member server
This is my schema:

net rpc rights list - could not connect to server 127.0.0.1
But this command returns me the rights list of administrator in AD DC. I
need the "rights list" of administrator in "MEMBER2".
Here some tests:
*From MEMBER2:
#net rpc rights list accounts ?Uadministrator Could not connect to server
127.0.0.1 The username or password was not correct.
Connection failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
#net rpc rights list accounts ?Uadministrator

net rpc rights list - could not connect to server 127.0.0.1
I had already checked these files (smb.conf, krb5.conf, hosts) and they
match each other, but the error still appears...
Is there anything else I can check?
Thanks

clarification regarding RFC2307 winbind backend, please
Can someone please clarify the scope of the remarks in this wiki page:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/RFC2307_backend
specifically, can you confirm that the following applies only to a
Member Server, (not the DC)?

Thanks for the feedback. OK, I'll check out your link ASAP. The "Server" bit
in the link gives me pause. I *have* a Samba4 AD/DC "server" already.

Porting Custom Packages from Linux to Windows
On my linux workstation I have a nice, very little project in a
directory called "mystuff"
I installed "mystuff" into site-library with R CMD build, R CMD check
and R CMD install. This was all with the file mystuff.tar.gz.
Now I want to install "mystuff" on my windows workstation. Can I use
the same file mystuff.tar.gz. Do I need to do something different with

DC replication not working
I've got a couple of Samba4 DCs running as VMs for testing. The primary
AD DC went smoothly. The second VM joined properly and all but it's only
when I get to the replication tests that I see errors. This is following

When I run the command "samba-tool drs kcc -Uadministrator

tzdata - extra info.
Sorry for the extra info required, but I had digest mode turned on and
wouldn't have received the mailing till tomorrow.
I have since updated the data manually, but after 'yum update tzdata' was
run, the zdump -v for EST5EDT and America/New_York all still showed a date
of April 1, instead of March 11. After manually fixing, it is correct.
This was mostly a question about why yum

Yes, that does clarify and give me comfort with respect to naming. I understand

New member, new OS, old Tao user
Mr. Parsley, the main man at the Tao Linux group, has announced that he will
no longer be able to do his thing for Tao Linux. Just recently, I had
decided to investigate CentOS 4 before his announcement, and liked a lot of
what I saw. Due to the Tao announcement, I have decided that CentOS will
"have" to be the OS for my company in the future. Hence, my new membership
to this list.

apparently not.
Can someone PM me and let me know what outgoing IP addresses the list is

help, please, troubleshooting winbind testing during setup of Samba 4 AD member server
Hello, all!
Well, third time is *not* the charm for me. (I've been through the
process 3 times with 3 different DCs).
I am trying to set up a member server, using Samba 4.1.14, and washing
out when getting to the winbind testing. I've tried ignoring the failure
and pressing on, but that didn't get anywhere.
In this instance, I have a freshly-installed, configured and functioning

samba member logon.. question.
wel, i was thinking about the following..
AD backend:
member1 = fileserver with only company data. linux and windows users.
member4 = database server with linux and windows users, nfs-kerberos connected with member1.
member5 = webserver server with linux and windows users, nfs-kerberos connected with member1. ( no external web server only internal )
RID backend:
member2 = profiles and user

tzdata
I read a few days back on the list where the tzdata rpm was to take care of
the new DST rules. I run CentOS 3 servers, and did a 'yum update tzdata' ,
but received a 2006a update of the rpm.
Is this proper? It sure didn't fix anything.
Thanks

I did. My Gentoo samba service scripts starts smbd and nmbd. Oh. Ugh.
Sorry. Found an untweaked option in the samba service script
configuration file--that I had apparently known about while setting up
the AD DC--which was necessary to start

I did specify domain out of frustration I think. More test as per your inputs: (net ads join fails)
