Good value for /proc/sys/vm/min_free_kbytes
Hi,
what would be a good value for
/proc/sys/vm/min_free_kbytes
on a Dual-CPU EM64T System with 8 GB of memory. Kernel is
2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp. I know that the default might be a bit low.
Unfortunatelly the documentation is a bit weak in this area.
We are experiencing responsiveness problems (and higher than expected
load) when the system is under combined memory+network+disk-IO stress.

Kernel paging request error
Reposting from xen-users (no response)
I''m having a problem with: http://pastebin.com/CuGHqwhy
It occurs on the reboot, but sometimes, when I try to start manually one of
my machines. Sometime, one of the machines does not want to start
permanently and I have to reinstall/restore it.
This problem comes for me randomly, but maybe there is a trigger.
I''ve tried to follow:

Help needed with NFS issue
I have four NFS servers running on Dell hardware (PE2900) under CentOS
5.7, x86_64. The number of NFS clients is about 170.
A few days ago, one of the four, with no apparent changes, stopped
responding to NFS requests for two minutes every half an hour (approx).
Let's call this "the hang". It has been doing this for four days now.
There are no log messages of any kind pertaining

Trouble with Mailman
I have set up Mailman on a virtual private server from 1and1 running
Centos, though I can't tell which version. The system has 2 GB of
memory. Mailman is receiving posts, but it is not sending them out to
everybody. It is also getting some out-of-memory errors. The server is
also runing Plesk for Web hosting. Something on the server is leaking
memory. When first booted it has nearly 1.5

`its' questions
Problem 1: Often, when I'm dealing with its, str() breaks. Here's a
bug demo. The first statements work fine --
library(its)
# Make a series of all dates from 1/1/2000 to 10/1/2000; fill this up
# with integers from 1 to 30
x1 <- newIts(start="2000-01-01", end="2000-01-10", 1:30, ncol=3)
print(x1)

Debian ?Ubuntu version of latest R using synaptic in Ubuntu 10.10
Dear List
I use synaptic to download R on my Ubuntu 10.10. It seems latest version of
R on Ubuntu is 2.11.1
Even when I use debian.cran.r-project.org to update my packages the problem
remains (latest versions on CRAN are almost always 2 updates ahead of Debian
packages) This is also true for a lot of other packages as well
My specific problem is while I can use sudo apt-get to update packages

No. The gcc cross compiler being used (tilera-gcc) is indeed 64-bit.
Thanks

Hi,
I have to generate 10 cdfs in a graph. I need to compare the cdf's

I would appreciate if you could give some solution to the problem asap.
Thanking you,
Sincerely,
Ajay.

for "R" and "economics" gives many pages about economics and a name like
Firstname R. Lastname on it ;-)).
Does anybody in the list does know such a web page?
If not, I will be happy if you, Ajay, could build and
