clarification regarding RFC2307 winbind backend, please
Can someone please clarify the scope of the remarks in this wiki page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/RFC2307_backend specifically, can you confirm that the following applies only to a Member Server, (not the DC)? https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/RFC2307_backend#Configuring_RFC2307_backend_for_Winbind > Configuring RFC2307 backend for Winbind > > Add the following to the [global]

net rpc rights list - could not connect to server 127.0.0.1
I had already checked these files (smb.conf, krb5.conf, hosts) and they match each other, but the error still appears... Is there anything else I can check? Ok, > I am getting the DNS register warning message on > *all* win clients, not just that one. Good info, so, this confirms its not a bug but an incorrect setting. Type ipconfig /all on a pc. Post the output, i suspect, incorrect dnsdomain or dns search domain. Also. Check if the PTR records are set to the correct server ips. This does not change on its own. Ldbsearch from below

Othere thing. IF you domain name is like domain.tld By default, Windows does not send updates to top-level domains. If thats the case you should change it to a single-lable dns. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/300684 Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: Viktor Trojanovic [mailto:viktor at troja.ch] > Verzonden: maandag 16 november 2015 15:45 > Aan:

New AD user cannot access file share from member server
I missed to mention it. But I actually did try changing the CN=users to OU=ouname, and even leaving it out. I don't know why it didn't return any results before, it does now - see my reply to James. But this command returns me the rights list of administrator in AD DC. I need the "rights list" of administrator in "MEMBER2". Here some tests: *From MEMBER2: #net rpc rights list accounts ?Uadministrator Could not connect to server 127.0.0.1 The username or password was not correct. Connection failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE #net rpc rights list accounts ?Uadministrator

We are trying to set up a member, and have followed the wiki page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server. The first question I have is why is the start script we use on the AD not work on the
