Slooooow Samba problem
Hi,
I'm new to Linux (and therefore Samba), and I'm working on setting up a
Linux machine to act as a simple file server for my home network. (I've got
a couple of Windows NT/XP laptops that will need to connect to it.)
So far, I've got it working by setting up a guest account and having my NT
machines log in as the guest with the guest password. I've set guest ok =
yes and

$$ is slooooow in IE
While $$ and getElementsByClassName are ridiculously speedy in Firefox
(thanks to XPath), I''m finding both functions to be intolerably slow
in IE. The page I''m working with has fewer than 1000 elements --
doesn''t seem THAT big -- and it''s still taking upwards of 4 seconds
(!) to pick out the right ones.

Right-management Bug?
Hidiho!
I have two small problems and I hope anybody can help me.
First a short description, what I want to do:
We are moving lots of data from a win2k server to a samba 3.0 server (on a
debian woody). The win2k server is the pdc of our network and will not be
deactivated. The samba server will only act as a file server - so we
installed it on a patched debian with XFS and ACL-support (samba was

Change transport type on volume from tcp to rdma
Hello
I have two peers setup and working with x2 bricks each. They have been
working via tcp for the last 4-5 months.
I just got two Infiniband cards and put the on the peers. I want to
change the transport type to rdma instead of tcp but I don't see an easy
way to do this.
Can you please help me with proper instructions.

Error when creating volume
Hello,
I've removed a volume and I can't re-create it :
gluster volume create gluster-export gluster-6:/export gluster-5:/export
gluster-4:/export gluster-3:/export
/export or a prefix of it is already part of a volume
I've formatted the partition and reinstalled the 4 gluster servers and
the error still appears.
Any idea ?
Thanks.

Is it possible to clone an NT ACL from one file or dir to a totally different file or dir ?
Can I use a command like this to clone an NT ACL?
getfattr -n security.NTACL templateFile | sed -e
's/templateFile/realFile/' | sudo setfattr --restore=-
I can see that the attribute gets copied over but when I view the ACL in
Windows security tab it's not the same ACL, it's much bigger and
includes all kinds of default-like stuff. I'm trying to find a way to
update

Question Wiki Kernel support
Hey,
I refer to
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Operating_system_requirements/File_system_support#ext4
Wiki suggests:
Ensure that your kernel has the following options enabled:
CONFIG_EXT4_FS_XATTR=y
CONFIG_EXT4_FS_SECURITY=y
CONFIG_EXT4_FS_POSIX_ACL=y
My debian 8.2 installation was installed from netinstall CD, all updates
applied. All my filesystems are ext4 and xattr and acl are not set,

What is it with trusted.io-stats-dump?
Hi,
I am trying to understand how the extended attribute trusted.io-stats-dump
works.
setfattr -n trusted.io-stats-dump -v
/tmp/gluster_perf_stats/io-stats-pre.txt /mnt/gluster/gv0_glusterfs
I can see that the io-stats-pre.txt is created. But how and what happened
in the background?
And why I can't I see the attribute with getfattr again?
getfattr -dm- /mnt/gluster/gv0_glusterfs

failed to close Bad file descriptor on file creation after using setfattr to test latency?
Hi all,
Running into a problem with my gluster here in a LAB env. Production is a
slightly different build(distributed replicated with multiple arbiter
bricks) and I don't see the same errors...yet. I only seem to have this
problem on 2 client vm's that I ran "setfattr -n trusted.io-stats-dump -v
output_file_id mount_point" on while trying to test for latency issues.

Gluster - data migration.
Hi All.
I have two servers ("master" and "slave") with a replicated gluster
volume. Recently I've had a problem with slave and gluster does not
work on it now.
So I would like to:
- stop and remove current volume on master (on slave it is not accessible);
- stop gluster software on master (already stopped on slave);
- remove gluster software on master and slave (previous

support xattr, quota on RHEL5 of OCFS2 1.4
Hi
I'd like to know if OCFS2 1.4 on RHEL5 with the REDHAT latest kernel
supports disk quotas, the xattr and acl. I could have done something wrong
but only the acl seem to work.
Apparently instead on FC12, where support is enabled in the kernel itself
OCFS grep / boot / config *
CONFIG_OCFS2_FS = m
CONFIG_OCFS2_FS_O2CB = m
CONFIG_OCFS2_FS_USERSPACE_CLUSTER = m

cannot set filesystem permissions on shares
Hi,
I would like to set filesystem permissions on shares (users, at the
moment) with Windows 10 (1809).
On the Samba side, the filesystem is ext4. I tested the extended
attributes usability with setfattr/getfattr, and setfacl/getfacl, and
they work.
I set the followings in smb.conf:
[global]
vfs objects = acl_xattr
map acl inherit = yes
store dos attributes = yes
...
[users]
path = /home/users

Hoping you can help me with a healing problem. I have one file which didn't
self heal.
it looks to be a problem with a directory in the path as one node says it's
dirty. I have a replica volume with arbiter
This is what the 3 nodes say. One brick on each

create Sub-Subfolders
Hi all,
this is my first post to this list, and hope someone can help me ;-)
I'm running dovecot.x86_64 1.0.7-7.el5 on a CentOS release 5.5 (Final) box.
when a user tries to create a sub-subfolder in Archiv, he gets the message:
"Mailbox doesn't allow inferior mailboxes"
Mailclient is MS Outlook 2003 SP3
is there a spezial configuration in /etc/dovecot.conf needed?
