Centos samba-3x / samba-3.6.6 - win7 will not join domain
Hi Some advice needed on samba-3.6.6 for win7 Since getting my win7 ultimate pc, I've only used my centos server with samba for a workgroup connection. Previously I had an XP client on this domain. I've updated today (17 feb 2013) to the latest centos5.9 (Linux 2.6.18-348.1.1.el5.centos.plus on i686) which includes samba3x with samba-3.6.600.129_el5 passdb backend has to be tdbsam now for

problem with domain and samba3x
Hi all About 18 months ago I connected 14 new Windows 7 PCs to a Centos5.1 server with samba3x as domain members. There are no other servers on site. Today, I had to visit to connect up a PC in a new location. As I would normally do I checked for Centos updates and found 35 outstanding including samba3x 3.6.23-12.el5_11 and samba3x-client, samba3x-common, samba3x-doc, samba3x-domainjoin-gui,

Ubuntu and Windows and Sage.........
Following on from my previous missive - now apparently resolved :D I now have another problem. This time with Sage Line50 Ver11. It appears to have installed OK and seems to link to the network share drive (G:), however it will not allow me (or anyone else) to log in. If I use any good username, it comes back with "invalid password", even for users with no password. If I use any

authentication issues
Hopefully this is a simple problem for a guru to solve. I have been installing Centos / Samba servers for my clients since 2004. However, in almost every instance, the linux machine has been the only server on site. To begin with I set up the server as a domain server but as most of my customers have less than a dozen PCs on a single site, the domain seemed to be an overkill so I now tend to use

Problem with Sage Line50 Reports
Hi All, I've installed Sage Line50 v11 under Wine on my Ubuntu 8.04. I can open my data and in general it seems to be working well (other than the html based left-hand list does not display, but that's not a problem because I believe it duplicates functionality found on the main toolbar). My problem is with the report designer. When a report is opened it displays the following error:

Ransomware?
I had to deal with ransomware at the end of April. One of the PCs on my customer's network was infected by opening a realistic looking email apparently from a genuine supplier to the company and personally addressed. The infection occurred on Wednesday, but encryption of the server only took place late on Friday afternoon, presumably having obtained encryption keys from the criminals. The

Samba3x daily logged errors with Win7 clients
In the course of upgrading from CentOS 5.4 to CentOS 5.5 I changed from using the samba (v3.0.x) packages to the samba3x (v3.3.8) packages, mostly because the newer version was said to better support Win7. The Samba server services Linux, WinXP, and Win7 clients. Now I get many, many errors logged to the Samba logs shortly after 3:00 AM, but only from the Win7 clients. I get roughly 430

centos 5.11 samba3.6.23-6.el5 odd user behaviour
Hi Centos linux 5.11 server with samba3.6.23-6.el5 with workgroup (not domain) This system has been running for four years with no real issues. There are 9 xp clients all within the workgroup, rather than connected to the domain. The server is used for windows shares and for openwebmail This week I had a problem with the draytek 2820 adsl router. I had to reset it and update to the latest 2014

DNS problem while trying to join windows 7 to samba3x pdc
I am running centos 5.5 using samba3x as a pdc. I migrated to samba3x so that I could join Windows 7 machines to the domain. It is a new setup using a tried and true configuration from a different box. I have used this configuration in the past to joing Windows XP Pro machines. And I havn't found anyting helpful on the error with google. I can ping the server name and the server can ping

Sage Accounts Performance Issues (Solved)
I've been struggling for several days with an issue to which I found a number of references, but few solutions, so wanted to put my experience "out there", in the hope that others may find it useful at some time. A client company network of 10 WinXP Pro PCs and CentOS 4 server (a Fujitsu RX300x2) running Samba was last week replaced with 10 Win7 Pro PCs and a CentOS5 server

Centos, Samba , WIN7
Hi Folks, I've fresh installed CentOS 5.5 and realized, that Samba is in version 3.0.33-3. Is it possible to conect WIN7 in a Samba-Dom?ne with this version? And I've read abaut RHEL 5.6 with samba 3.5.4. Can I expect, that this version is included in CentOS 5.6? And can I get this version with yum-update? Thx Timothy
