Issues on Samba4 AD DC GPO's with Sites and Winbind
Hello Samba-List, Recently I ran into a few access rights problems with GPO's. I have an test environment running with four samba4 AD DC's (sernet 4.1.2/debian wheezy). Used the Script's from the samba wiki for sysvol replication. The AD Database is comming from an classic upgrade and i have "idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes" in my smb.conf. Some groups like for example

Failure gpupdate
Dear James and Lingpanda Here I have 2 DC's running. Everything was running perfectly. The problem started after I started to rsync to synchronize the Sysvol folder between DC's. I believe it is a permission problem in the GPO's or Sysvol folder. Another detail. Even accessing the gpedit Group Polic Manager via RSAT using the Administrator User, I can no longer edit any GPO. I get

"could not parse ovf:Name" converting OVA
I got the "IE10 on Win 8" VM download from here: https://dev.modern.ie/tools/vms/linux/ and am trying to convert the .ova file to a format that will work with virt-manager and KVM on Fedora 21. I tried this: $ virt-v2v -v -x -i ova -o libvirt IE10\ -\ Win8.ova and got this output: virt-v2v: libguestfs 1.28.12 (x86_64) [ 0.0] Opening the source -i ova IE10 - Win8.ova tar -xf

TLS/SSL for Win8 & Outlook
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello I recently upgraded to dovecot 2.1.7 (as supplied with Debian Weezy). All clients work as expected except for Outlook (2013 &2010) on Win8 with a SSL/TLS connection. (Thunderbird on Win8 and Outlook 2013 on Win 7 works fine. On my previous dovecot version 1.2.13 all clients worked.) As far as I understand, one difference is the support for

'RPC Server is Unavailable' when updating GPO
Hi, Researched the forums before posting but was not able to find solution to my issue. Could be a unique problem. GPO's are not being applied to users and computers because 'RPC is unavailable'. The GPO's were being applied before, but not sure what happened. Started noticing this once I binded a new instance of Windows 10 to the SambaDC and the machine nor user were picking up

HP Envy EFI problem after BIOS update
I had to boot my HP Envy into Win8 for the first time in ages this morning. When I did that, it installed some updates including a BIOS update. Once this was all done, once again the GRUB boot menu was gone and it booted straight into Win8. Using the advanced boot manager options in Win8 I managed to get the EFI boot menu up and chose Ferdora 21. It was only after Fedora failed to boot that

[LLVMdev] Access Violation using ExecutionEngine on 64-bit Windows 8 Consumer Preview
Hi Rotem, Thank to you, and especially to Marina! The problem gone. I'm a bit interested, what is the reason it worked in Win7, and not in Win8. I've recently used Process Explorer to discover, that the call was to ntdll.dll, which in Win8 is loaded to the totally different address. Windows 8 printing to CUPS+Samba - will CreatePrinterIC RPC call stub be implemented?
Hi All, I'm trying to make Windows 8 clients print to Samba 3.5 and CUPS 1.5.4. Thanks to the patch from Frank Lascheit ( https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2012-December/170322.html) it seems to work, except for one thing. By default, Windows 8 client emits CreatePrinterIC request, to which Samba replies with "Not Implemented" answer. Instead of ignoring it, Win8 client fails

libvirt RPC error
Hi, I'm using qemu+ssh://username at hostname/system as the remote URI. Libvirt seems to be communicating fine until some 2 minutes (we poll every 5 seconds) and then it throws up RPC error and many counters are wrong. But if I collect on localhost the counters seems to be coming fine. Test and testvm are guests on the local machine where as Win8 and Ubuntu* are remote URI's connected
