2x Samba4 Bugs - "mount error(5): Input/output error" & "recycle: stat for ... AFP_AfpInfo returned No such file or directory"
Hi I'm using Samba version 4.1.7 on the server side. On the Client side is multiple versions - a copy machine Konica Minolta - Windows XP - Windows 7 - Mac OSx (Mavericks) - CentOS (XenServer) all of them get sporadic input output errors. E.g: on a Linux I would get a mount error(5): Input/output error after the first try. And as funny as it sounds, but the second try is a success and

Samba 4.1.11 crashes sporadically
Hi, I thought I should share this unusual behaiviour of samba 4.1.11. All of a sudden while I tried to delete a Folder via samba on a share it crashed. I was using Mac OSx's V 10.9.4 internal samba client (regular "CMD+K" mount via Finder). force group does not work
Hi I set up a samba 4.1.4 server on the latest FreeBSD RELEASE 10. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to consider the option force group. After hours ofresearch I couldn't figure out what I'm still missing. unix extensions is set to no. Setting the debug level up to 10 also didn't help ;( Is this a bug or is there simply a mistake in my setup? When *valid users = @Groupname* is

recycle: ... returned No such file or directory
Hi, recently I see lots of logs like this. I figured, that many have umlaute in their name - but not all. My local FS displays the umlaute correctly - but it is not displayed correctly in the logfiles. Also, when I browse through shares via Windows or MacOSx all files with umlaute seem to be displayed correctly. May 5 08:27:54 Storage-01 smbd[39207]: recycle: stat for

samba 4.7.7 shares on FreeBSD 11.1-p11 started to ignore ACL
Hi, This morning three of our FreeBSD-11.1-p11 servers with Samba 4.7.7 installations started to ignore ACL settings and reject user access to shares.  All three servers are members of DC running on Windows Server 2008R2.  Everything has been running ok for last few year.  I have been upgrading Samba and FreeBSD installations and on last Friday upgraded to the latest packages from

Copy a directory from macOS to Samba fails
Hi, unfortunately copying a directory from macOS to a Samba share fails, if the macOS set ACLs in the source directory. The error on macOS side basically informs the user, that the operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items. Unfortunately macOS automatically sets these ACLs sometimes. Relevant lines in my configuration file: cat

Can a macOS (Posix) client see symlinks on FreeBSD server as symlinks on client?
Hello, Samba folks: Is there a setting I could invoke, either on my server's Samba configuration or on my macOS smbfs configuration, which would make the hundreds of legacy symbolic links on the server's Posix file system appear as symbolic links on the macOS client? Does Samba claim that it will present symlinks on the server file system as symlinks to a client? Some background:

winbindd fails to start
I am testing samba-4.19 on FreeBSd-14.1 and am getting this error in the log.wb-<DOMAIN> file: ../../source3/winbindd/winbindd_dual.c:1965(winbindd_sig_term_handler) I suspect that this may caused by an ip4 address assignment clash as I am using the configuration and data structures copied from our running Samba-4.13 DC. When I run winbindd interactively I see this: #

Cannot change directory permissions
Hello, I occasionally need to remove the write permissions from directories inside a share to prevent users from accidentally deleting files inside that directory. My problem is that I neither can view nor can change the permissions of directories on my shares. Curiously enough viewing and changing permissions of files in the same shares works without a problem. Is there anything I

Samba AD-DC on FreeBSD-12.1 Jail
