On my DC at creation, i created my domain with the following line:
?
samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --use-xattrs=yes --realm= ... etc etc.
?
and it created smb.conf with.?
idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes
?
But when i now look in my AD User manager, no NIS options anymore.
?
Is there a possibility to add it again?
and can this be caused my the zarafa schema import ?

samba 4, joining a windows 2008R2 domain as DC. ubuntu 12.04 withsernet packages ( small howto ) W.I.P.
Hello,
?
This is a quick and dirty setup, it can be used as guideline for an "debian/ubuntu" based install
with use of the sernet samba packages. Since this was a bit hard to figure out, i'm sharing this.
?
Please correct the wrongs in this setup if you found some to make it a better and easy to read?setup.
( and please correct my typos ;-) )

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Can you tell more about your setup?
Is zarafa and samba on the same server for example.
Which MTA are you using postfix/exim?
My top was about 150 users, and all my printers are connected also so about 200 devices do ldap searches.
but my setup is split over 10+ servers ( 2 are AD DC )
So best is to tell what you can about your setup, anonimize if needed.

Failure reporting (mixed feelings)
Hi there,
?
As suggested on the samba wiki, I like to report failures using samba4.
?
Story:
I had setup a general Office environment using samba4 (2 servers) with AD intergrated DNS (samba internal), Zarafa mail server (Prof.), ISC dhcp with split-scope and file shares (users, profiles, data and application) for a test-case environment.? Plan was to deploy this setup for a customer? (small 25

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Hi,
I talked to Zarafa (Kopano now) support and they acknowledge that their product in combination with Samba does not scale welland is only suitable for what they call smaller setups.

howto "upgrade/transfer" samba domain-user + domain-group data to a new windows 2003 active directory domain?
I much regret in many ways having to ask this question below. But our
business needs now demand more than we think we can deliver using open
source software exclusively.
What is the best way to 'suck up' all of the domain group and user
data from a current samba 3.0.21a PDC into a microsoft windows 2003
server?
We have two basic needs that demand we now introduce active directory
servers

Classic upgrade - no email addresses
Hi Rowland,
Perhaps I misled you with my wording. Each user has just one email
address, which was not migrated across. From where I'm sitting that
looks like a very serious bug.
regards,
John

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Are use using zarafaAccount=1 withing the search filters?
I use this things like this :
(&(objectClass=person)(zarafaAccount=1)(|(mail=%s)(otherMailbox=%s)))
Or for groups.
(&(objectclass=group)(zarafaAccount=1)(|(mail=%s)(otherMailbox=%s)))
That helps a lot.
! If you switch to kopano beware to change the SCHEMA and filters
zarafaAccount changed to kopanoAccount

Adding indexing to samba AD question.
Hai,
I need to add some extra indexing on my AD DB, and im not sure if what the correct/best methode is.
And is there any reason i should not do this, i did search on the wiki, but could not find the info i searched for.
I know the following. Checked the current index. ( source info : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/LDB )
ldbsearch -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb -s base -b @INDEXLIST

LDAP bindpw password
Hi.
I'm using Samba 4 on two Zentyal servers as Domain Controller and now
I have to authenticate some services to it (Apache and PAM in
particular).
The LDAP integration asks me for a LDAP bind password, but I cannot
find out where it is on Zentyal.
Is there a way to check (or change it) directly on Samba 4?
Or is it preferable to authenticate against Active Directory or Kerberos?
Thank you

I really like the total solution, with the zarafa schema option etc, its a nice package and easy to install.

Or are you people waiting for wheezy to release, i can understand that.
