Atheros AR5212/AR5213 wifi not working
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the CentOS list, so forgive me if this has been answered before (someone please point me to an efficient way of searching through the list archives).
I have a wifi card from the subject line, and have the driver installed. Using NetworkManager under Gnome everything works perfectly. However, I prefer to use network service instead of NetworkManager since

kworker 100% of single core on mulit-core processor usage inquiry
Greetings everyone.
I am experiencing the kworker issue where a kworker is using 100% of a given core.
This behavior was only observed after having installed a new water cooler, to replace a cooler that had died. (Sealed closed loop device from Corsair)
The processor is staying around 40 degrees celsius as reported by the MB UEFI interface. (ksysguard shows between 29 degrees and 30 degrees,

CentOS 5.5 : Installing Sources where they are visible to system(VBOX driver install)
I have installed the source rpms on CentOS 5.5 due to virtualbox upgrade
not functioning. (the old one that comes with centos works fine,
however, I wanted to newer one.)
Whenever I run the driver installation script it fails with an
indication that it could not find the sources.
How do I correct the issue with the system not seeing the installed
source rpms?

Centos 7 kworker uses 100% of single core on mulit-core processor usage inquiry
Greetings again everyone.
Can someone please respond to this?
I am not sure what is causing this issue, however, others seem to have experienced it in the past.
Could this be caused by the processor being damaged?
Nothing has changed on the system, except for the heat warning shutoff when the water cooler died, and the system was not restarted until the new one was installed.
Any input

hostname on centos 7.1
Greetings everyone.
I have some CentOS 7 VMs running on the system for which I just made the inquiry about the kworker problem, and I was able to institute immediate change of hostname by updating the /etc/hostname file.
I have network manager running on the host, as well, and it also has the name populated in this file.
When I make the change in /etc/hostname, it takes immediate effect, and

wifi cluelessness
The nice folks at work have just provided me with a new, really spiffy,
ThinkPad. So, I''m trying to get wireless working under CentOS4 and I''m
having trouble. First, I can''t seem to find any rpms to just install
(this would be really nice). And, second, when I try to build it from the
src.rpm that I pulled from the atrpms repository with "rpmbuild

Hard(?) lock when reassociating ath with wpa_supplicant on RELENG_7
I seem to be able to lock my machine by going into wpa_cli and asking it
to 'reassoc'. The reason for question mark after "hard" is that debug
information (caused by wlandebug and athdebug) is being printed on the
console. The only way to get machine's attention is to hold power button
for 8 seconds.
Note: manual reassociation is just the handy way to reproduce the
problem

CentOS and Atheros
What's the easiest path to having my Atheros wireless cards supported,
particularly in C5?
In the past, I've chosen to download source and build my own, but that's
become a little tiresome.
At one point, OpenSUSE was the easy option, but since 10.1 it's dropped
madwifi.

Atheros AR5141
Hi
I got myself a nice little R52 802.11a/b/g MiniPCI Card for our router.
This card is using the Atheros AR5141 chipset. I searched everywhere to
find out more info on this and came across a few pages where it said that
the AR5141 chipset is supported but when I stick the card in the router
and boot FreeBSD 7-STABLE it hangs when loading the Atheros drivers
It stops right after this

how to install Atheros AR5008 on CentOS 5.5 in console-only mode?
Hi all,
I hope someone can help me. I'm trying to setup a D-Link DWA-547 on
CentOS 5.5 x64 in console only mode, i.e. there's no X installed. The
Wiki article suggests using NetWork Manager, but since there's no X
installed on this server, it's not possible.
How do I go about installing this card?
Here's the output of lspci -v:
01:00.0 Network controller: Atheros

Support for the Atheros wireless chipset in 3.4 and 4.0
Atheros support is not ''built in'' for 3.4, so I need some pointers on
adding it.
Is it in 4.0? It is in the current Novell Linux desktop professional (we
used that on a system the other week).
The reason for Atheros support, is that all the network anaylsis tools work
well with it (and I have one!).

Wifi wpa_supplicant with atheros successes or failures?
I remember being a small part of and following this thread a few months
ago.
<http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2006-May/065091.html>
I've been attempting a go at getting wpa_supplicant running on CentOS
4.3 and haven't had much luck. I'm assuming my failure is my lack of
knowledge on the subject, but anyways.
First, my normal setup is as follows:

[Bridge] Re: re : atheros bridge problem
I'm not sure how this particular solution works for my arrangement. I
have two 10/100 ethernet interfaces on the local net and one atheros
interface. I understand the issues w/ the 802.11a/b/g/i protocols, but
this particular solution sounds as if I want to bridge two networks
that are separated by a network segment, like a VPN. But I have all
these interfaces on one machine that I

D-link ag 530 on freebsd (atheros)

I bought a d-link ag530 pci card and I have a surprise.

I remember that we had to use ar5k.c to rewrite the regdomain on the eeprom.
Some old ag530 cards I had done successfully, but the newer ones...

Installed plus kernel, kudzu did not see atheros wifi
I took the dive and installed the CentosPlus kernel. I remembered that
I could always boot with the old kernel if things went south.
But on reboot, kudzu wanted to delete the Atheros config. I told it not
to, but....
Would a simple 'freshen' of madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at.i386.rpm ?
an rpm -qa |grep wifi returns:
madwifi-kmdl-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL-0.9.1-24.el4.at

What ever happened to the dkms atheros drivers/
My OQO boxes have the AR5413 wifi chipset, so for the first time in
quite a while, I again need to run madwifi. So I went looking for the
dkms madwifi rpms, but could not find them. They use to be on rpmforge,
as I recall. dkms is there.
So have I lost some memory cells or have these rpms taken a hike?
