icecast2 will not start from the /etc/init.d
I can start it fine from the command line using icecast -c icecast.xml
we have ver 2.4.
When I try and start it using /etc/init.d/icecast2 start it says [ ok ]
Starting icecast2 (via systemctl): icecast2.service.
but it actually doesn't start. nothing in the error logs, nothing in
syslog.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

systemd missing something?
"Note that traditional init scripts continue to function on a systemd
system. An init script /etc/rc.d/init.d/foobar is implicitly mapped
into a service unit foobar.service during system initialization."
That's what it says in /etc/init.d/README.
However, what it implies doesn't seem to work out.
In the same directory as that README is a file called "network" which

/etc/init.d/samba in Ubuntu_18.04
Hello
I use a script for backup Samba/AD and before running the backup I use the
command '/etc/init.d/samba stop'
After I migrated ubuntu from version 16 to version 18, this command was

frustrating dependency problem
I''m having a difficult time with a dependency issue. Basically, I want to
be able to call a defined type, but it''s not working out so far. I have my
manifests setup like this:
init.pp:
class foo {

}
bar.pp:
class foo::bar {

daemon in /etc/init.d/functions creates no pifile?
Hi,
we started using centos7 to run kvm+libvirt.
For novnc to virtual machines I like to start
websockify as a daemon by libvirt (as a hook)
Under Debian I used the line:
# start-stop-daemon --start --chuid $RUNUSER --make-pidfile --pidfile $PIDFILE --startas $PROGRAM -- $OPTIONS
which creates a nice pidfile.
In Centos I figured out, to include /etc/init.d/functions and I tried:
# daemon

Passing a period as part of an id in show action
I am trying to do the following in a RESTful manner:
I have a web service that accepts an id to deliver a particular
record. Unfortunately, the id that the client will have is not the
usual database sequence number. This mostly works, though, and the
url
looks something like:
http://myservice.com/controller/the_id.xml
That is handled by the "show" action.
Unfortunately, some of

Rails Bug when loading required files for API?
Hello,
I have seen some odd behaviour of my Web Services code plus some
''similar'' postings to this list, so I believe this may be a bug in
Rails. But I''m failry new to RoR, so maybe I''m doing something wrong.
I''ll explain:
I have a WS API defined, communicating with a remote system that
expects a stucture:

SysV install problem in FC4
After a fresh install, I noticed that shorewall 2.4.0 wasn''t starting
automatically under FC4. The startup script installs properly from the
rpm:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/shorewall
... but the post install "/sbin/chkconfig --add shorewall" produces
this in the runlevel symlink directories:
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S-1shorewall
/etc/rc.d/rc0.d/K-1shorewall
/etc/rc.d/rc6.d/K-1shorewall

VMware tools not installing init.d script
Has anyone else seen this on Centos 6.x x64?
Running vSphere 5.0 and I install tools from the VMware tar.gz file with '
vmware-install-tools.pl -d' it seems to do all the usual/right things. Once
completed there is no 'vmware-tools' listed in 'chkconfig --list'. A reboot
of the box leaves vmware tools not running.
I have tried completely uninstalling tools and
