usb.ko is unloadable?
Dear colleagues,
I'm planning to debug usb connection with my new SONY CLIE handheld, and found
that this process is much complicated by the fact usb.ko module can not be
unloaded 'cause some process is referencing it:
marck@revamp:~/tmp> kldstat -v -i 11

Software RAID-1 partition constantly syncing
I have a partition set up as software RAID-1 on a CentOS 5.3 machine.
Today, the system was rebooted, when it came back up I noticed that it
had started to resync. It completes the sync, then immediately starts again.
From the log:

Please help: confusing dmesg messages
Hi,
I got a few centos 5 boxes installed for tests and
find the following confusing messages from ?dmesg?
command:
Your BIOS doesn't leave a aperture memory hole
Memory: 4043392k/5242880k available (2397k kernel
code, 150460k reserved, 1222k data, 196k init)
The machine has only 4GB memory chips installed only,
so where comes the number ?5242880k? for memory?

[PATCH] symmetricalization of system info command xm info, top, dmesg and log
These xm info, top, dmesg and log requre no parameter.
But log''s error message differs from other 3 command''s error messages,
when parameter is given.
# xm log 1
Error: ''xm log'' requires 0 argument.
log Print the xend log
Other 3 commands ignore parameter.
I think it might be better symmetricalize.

ata errors from dmesg
dmesg is reporting
ata1: translated ATA stat/err 0x51/10 to SCSI SK/ASC/ASCQ 0xb/14/00
ata1: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
ata1: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound }
My HD disk is on /dev/sda1 so I presume this is errors from the CDROM.
Is there a command I can use to not do anything with the CDROM?
It was just there for install. This is an older machine running 4.4 i686 .

VT-x enabled but xm dmesg does not show anything about vmx info
VT is enabled in BIOS and ''xm info'' shows that hvm can be created like
below:
xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_64 xen-3.0-x86_32p hvm-3.0-x86_32 hvm-3.0-x86_32p hvm

Several Windows VMs have been created on this server and running perfectly.
However, I wonder that it does not show anything when commands show
VT-x availability
such as ''xm dmesg | grep VMX(or

"xm dmesg" ring buffer size option?
I have a large system with pretty voluminous boot time messages that
are exceeding the capacity of the ring buffer displayed by "xm dmesg"
(i.e., the early messages are lost, and I see only the last messages).
With a regular, non-Xen kernel, I use "log_buf_len=size" to enlarge the
printk ring buffer size, but this boot option doesn''t seem to work
for Xen.

Errors in /var/log/messages and "dmesg"
A friend of mine is running Samba (samba-2.0.3-8) on a couple RedHat Linux
6.0 machines. He is sharing files bilaterally at work with a WinNT
machine and at home with a Win9x machine.
In both places, he is getting a large number of SMB error messages. I'm
not sure whether these are from the smbfs (smbmount) or from the Windoze
machines accessing the Linux drives, though I suspect the

Xen dmesg ringbuffer
Hi,
Is there any configuration setting to increase the size of the
ringbuffer used for Xen dmesg ?
I wanted to check the advanced features supported on my Xen systems,
on my Optiplex 755 I can read the info by running "xm dmesg" and
searching for VMX:
(XEN) VMX: Supported advanced features:
(XEN) - APIC TPR shadow
(XEN) - MSR direct-access bitmap
But on my Supermicro system which

how to save xm dmesg into a file
Hi,all,
the dmesg have a ring buffer size that is only 16k, so when overflows, some
of the printk() messages get lost. SO could someone please give me a
solution how to save all log message to a file. I don''t have serial port
and cannot use that method to save log on another machine. Thanks!

where is hypervisor''s kernel log? (xm dmesg just prints the ring buffer)
Hi,
I have a quick question:
Where is the hypervisor''s log file?
I have a lot of messages from xen hypervisor''s printk(KERN_INFO
"xm dmesg" just displays the latest ones.
Is there any way to access all the messages from hypervisor?
Thanks,
Weiming
