CentOS 6.4 kernel panic on boot after upgrading kernel to 2.6.32-431.29.2
I'm on a Supermicro server, X9DA7 motherboard, Intel C602 chipset, 2x 2.4GHz Intel Xeon E5-2665 8-core CPU, 96GB RAM, and I'm running CentOS 6.4. I just tried to use yum to upgrade the kernel from 2.6.32-358 to 2.6.32-431.29.2. However, I get a kernel panic on boot. The first kernel panic I got included stuff about acpi, so I tried adding noacpi noapic to the kernel boot parameters,

Recompiling the Kernel for CentOS 6.5
Hi, I am working on CentOS 6.5 which has 2.6.32-431 kernel. I have a problem with my driver and I need to enable Kernel-Memory leak in the kernel for which I will have to recompile the kernel. I get the kernel source tree from the the source rpm for my running kernel from below link- http://vault.centos.org/6.5/updates/Source/SPackages/kernel-2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.src.rpm and I try to build

Error occurs when build kernel 3.2.0
Hi all, Please let me know if this is not the right place to ask this question. I was trying to compile and build kernel 3.2.0, by following <Linux Administration - A Beginner's Guide> written by Wale Soyinka. Error occurs after running the following command: # new-kernel-pkg -v --mkinitrd --depmod --install 3.2.0-custom initrdfile is /boot/initrd-3.2.0-custom.img

Trying to re-install ZFS drivers
What should have been a routine upgrade to ZFS 0.6.4.1-1.el6.x86_64 somehow failed, and now I've lost access to a 2T raidz2 array. I've tried removing all zfs and related packages (spl*), then starting fresh. For reasons that have have nothing to do with this problem (I don't think), I'm still booted to kernel 2.6.32-431.29.2.el6.x86_64, and there are no other kernels installed.

How to enable EDAC kernel module for checking ECC memory?
In order to support ZFS, we upgraded a backups server with a new, ECC motherboard. We're running CentOS 6 with ZFS on Linux, recently patched. Now, I want to enable EDAC so we can check for memory errors (and maybe PCI errors as well) but so far, repeatedly pounding on the Google hasn't yielded exactly what I need to do to enable EDAC. One howto was covering PCI and edac, but

Radeon graphics problems with CentOS 6.6
Hello, I saw in the CentOS 6.6 release notes that the Xorg ABI has changed but that "This should not concern anyone who uses the default drivers shipped with CentOS." I'm using the ATI drivers in Base but X still fails when I boot a CentOS 6.6 kernel. I was hoping this is a known problem that would get fixed with a kernel update but I'm still having problems with the

The /var/log/messages after a lockup last night is appended to this message. hardware is a pretty typical server, Supermicro X8DTE-F motherboard, dual Xeon X5650, 48GB ECC memory, LSI SAS 2008 for the boot disks, and LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i for the data volume. Filesystem gets corrupted after kernel upgrade to 2.6.32-431.5.1.el6
Hi, I recently installed some fresh CentOS 6.5 machines and it took only about 20 minutes until the file system (ext4) was broken. And with "broken" I mean, that the system wasn't able to find vital system libraries any more! I were able to reproduce it on highly different systems: - A fresh installed CentOS 6.5 64 Bit on a virtual machine (KVM) - A system which I installed some

Compiling modules in kernel source but not included in distro.
Hi, I've been trying to compile some kernel modules for centos 6.5, specifically fore_200e atm driver (although I also have hardware to try nicstar and he ). This module is not included in the centos kernel or modules but is included in the stock kernel source. Lots of articles on compiling or patching modules in general or compiling code not included in the kernel source, but not much

write barrier support in CentOS 6
Hi, I've been looking for an answer to this question and can't find anything concrete that says full support for write barriers has been backported to the stock kernel. I've read that: "There is incomplete write barrier support in kernel versions 2.6.32 and earlier (2.6.31 has some support, while 2.6.33 works for all types of device target) - RHEL 6 uses 2.6.32." Now, I

centos kernel changelog?
I'm probably overlooking something simple, but I can't seem to find a concise changelog for the rhel/centos kernel. I'm on an oldish 6.5 kernel (2.6.32-431), and I want to look at the changes and fixes for every kernel that has been released since, all the way up to the current 6.6 kernel. Anyone have a link to this? Thanks! Matt

CentOS 6.5 driver for a Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 chipset
Hello CentOS admins. I am an AIX admin bent on learning CentOS. Yesterday I downloaded CentOS-6.5-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso, burned a DVD and loaded it onto a Lenovo IdeaPad N585 laptop. All went well, except for getting the integrated wireless to work. Here is some info and what I tried so far. # lspci|egrep -i wireless 06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless
