sofware caused connection abort
Hi there,
some of my users use putty to connect to my server via ssh protocol.
After some time they get the above error message, and it could be that
my CentOS-side configuration caused this. Do anybody has experience
with this problem?

installing Desktop faster
Hi there,
I installed centos 7 -- it works great.
What made me think is that installation took 1300 packages for a Desktop
with some add-ons.
As usual, there might be a solution for this already but I do not know it.
Would it be possible to create one big package for a standard Desktop? Then
an installation would not take ages.

backup question
Dear CentOs users,
I have a centos server with nothing important at the moment, but I
would like to install some web-based project management tool (trac for
the curious) that would contain important data. And, as my network is
growing the configuration of the server is becoming complex. I would
like to have a proper backup so that I can restore the whole system
easily, should any problem occur.

Opera is slow on CentOS
Hi there,
I am running various browsers on my CentOS 6.5. Firefox is running
smoothly, especially with blocking flash animations. I recently
installed Opera and I use Seamonkey for long, both suffers from being
very slow. Does CentOS have any role in this? For your information I
send cpuinfo, some people on #centos said that this could be the
problem -- but then why Firefox flies?

exam
Dear CentOS users,
is it possible to prepare for a certified (big North American Linux
vendor) engineer exam with a CentOS install ?
I have heard that the test contains questions on specific GUIs, are
they included in the CentOS distribution?

build system for cutting edge software
Hi,
I use centos as it is stable and provides all the software that is
needed for everyday use.
However, sometimes I would like to use fresh software that is not
available as a package. Compiling from source is indeed an option but
because centos uses oldish sources not only the sought package should
be built but a lot of other packages.
An idea is to build it in a directory, as much

Hi there,
for some reasons bash writes out my host's mac address as a result of
including \h in PS1. Do you know why? This was not always so.

ps/2 mouse stopped working
Hi there,
I was using a ps/2 mouse.
I had to connect a ps/2 keyboard. As I have only one ps/2 socket I
connected an usb mouse.
I then removed the other keyboard and reconnected the ps/2 mouse and
removed the usb mouse.
Now the ps/2 mouse does not work, even after reboot. What should I do?

Adobe Flash Install Woes
I am having a hell of a time getting adobe flash to work on a recent 5.2

Finding lshw and flash-plugin or alternates
Dear CentOS Gurus
I have been using "repoforge.org" primarily to obtain two RPMs,
"lshw" and "flash-plugin". I recently realized that "repoforge.org"
should not be used, as it has had no updates for a long long
time. But, when I search for the RPMs within the repos:
base
centosplus
contrib
epel

filesystem mounting fails at boot
_netdev
The filesystem resides on a device that requires network
access (used to prevent the system from attempting to mount these
filesystems until the network has been enabled on the system).
This device is not a network device (this a SAN not a NAS). To the OS it
looks like a normal SCSI attached device, it's /dev/sdb. In the blade
there is a HBA (Qlogic) card, and it's

Can I move the disk image of the guest while it is running?
Hello guys!
We want to move some guests' disk images to different locations (within
the same machine, locally), but we do not want to turn off the guests.
Can we do that while the guest is running, like live migration?
I did not find any related documentation or posts about it.
Let's say the guest has a disk at /ssd/image.raw
We want to move that to /hdd/image.raw
Is there any way to

extconf.rb patch
Hi!
Why not automagically delete generated header files like this?
File.open("Makefile","ab+"){|f|
f.puts
f.puts("tclean:; @$(RM) "+(Dir[''*.t''].map{|fn| fn.sub(''.t'',''.h'')}.join))
f.puts
}
Reduces user error :)
