Migrating RHEL 3 to Centos 5.2 - has Adaptec 2400a RAID
Greetings all. I'm new to the mailing list. Hope to get to know many
of you. I'll jump right in with a recent project. I have a machine with
RHEL WS 3 - Taroon; plus dual boot to Win 2000 Pro. The RAID card is
Adaptec's 2400A w/128 megs cache, running RAID 10 on 4 WD's. I want to
migrate to 5.2 Centos and wipe the NTFS partition. I have the 5.2 Centos
DVD. Anyone see any

Adaptec Host Raid
Hi All,
I need to install CentOS 4.0 x86_64 using Adaptec ASC-29320A with HostRAID
enabled, but it seems my card isn't recognized. I've tried to install the
hardware using driver downloaded for RHEL 4.0 from the Adaptec Website, but
still it's unrecognized.
P.S. I'm able to install RedHat 9.0 using this card before.
Is there anyone have any solution for this?
Thanks and

adaptec RAID
We've got this PC PitStop RAID box (they're so proud of it, there's no
logo), and what lspci tells me is an Adaptec AAC-RAID (ref 09) controller.
I see there's no F/OSS controllers for it, but when I go to Adaptec's
site, the search denies all knowledge of such a controller. I'd like to
get the correct one, and I really want an x86_64 version; googling found
me a 386 rpm.

Hardware RAID 10 server - reformat NTFS partition to ext3 and resize for Centos 5.5
Here's the situation. I have a dual boot machine - originally had Red
Hat and Windows 2000 Pro. The NTFS partition never did seem to 'get
along' with the Adaptec 2400A caching RAID controller. Linux always
seemed to like the I2O drivers. I went from RH Enterprise to now running
Centos 5.5. Works great! I really don't want the 200 gigs worth of NTFS.
Can't I just run

Installing on Hardware RAID - Adaptec 7890/7860
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to install the CentOS 4.4 Server CD on old hardware. The
hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2300 with Adaptec 7890 and 7860
controllers. It's the first time I've done a Linux install with
hardware RAID.
However, I'm having trouble getting CentOS (as well as Fedora Core 6)
to detect the SCSI hard drives. When it comes to the part where you
choose where to

onboard adaptec SAS RAID controller not seeing drive(s)
I have a Supermicro SuperServer 6025B-3V with their X7DB3 mobo. It
has an onboard Adaptec SAS RAID controller and has been configured
as a RAID1 with two Seagate Cheetah 15k.4 disks. Original attempts at
installing CentOS4.4 x86_64 appeared to load the aic94xx driver, but then
reported something like "No hard drives found...". I grabbed the x86_64
aacraid driver disk from Adaptec

CentOS 4 - i2o_block - Adaptec RAID
I know I saw some other posts on this in the archives, but I wanted to see
if there was any new information. I have MANY Intel servers (SR1200, SR1300,
etc.) that are using the Adaptec 2010S, 2100S, 2110S and 2120S SCSI RAID
Controllers. They are currently running CentOS3.4 and everything works
great. From what I know, these cards should be able to use the i2o_block
driver which is part of the

That's a pretty old RAID controller. Kernel module support for such old
cards have been dropped by RHEL. Check the ELrepo for

Max filesystem size for ext3 using Adaptec RAID 5 on 64 bit CentOS
We are strategizing a set of backup servers and I have been trying to
deduce wha the maximum size of each RAID 5 array should be to match
the OS we are using. We are currently running CentOS 4.3 64 bit. We
have planned a 2 TB RAID 5 array for testing but we will need to set
up several larger ones for production. I have poked around and I see
people mention limits like 2TB max file size and 32TB

Slow fsck on adaptec SAS/SATA raid
I'm trying to do an fsck on an ext3 partition but I'm seeing abysmally slow
disk throughput; monitoring with "dstat" (like vmstat) shows ~1200-1500KB/s
throughput to the disks. Even with 24hrs of fsck-ing I only get ~3% (still in
pass1).
The filesystem is ext3 running "e2fsck -C0 /dev/sda3" and about 3.7TB on an
x86_64-based system with 4GB RAM. e2fsprogs is 1.41.9.

Isolinux disk error 20; AX=4280, drive EF
I thought I'd be clever and buy a DVD for 5.2 from LinuxOnline.biz.
Well, just got around to trying it with the above results. Does the
error mean I have a 'bad' DVD disk image? Please advise. Thanks.

RCurl and Google Scholar's EndNote references
Hi!
I've performed a Google Scholar Search using a query, let's say "Frank
Harrell", and parsed the links to the EndNote references from the resulting
HTML code. Now I'd like to download all the references automatically. For
this, I have tried to use RCurl, but I can't seem to get it working: I
always get error code "403 Forbidden" from the web server.

PROBLEM: I/O stalls when running fstress against multi-device fs
Chris:
I can consistently reproduce I/O stalls when running fstress (as found
in Autotest) against a six volume btrfs filesystem mounted without
options. The volumes are independent disks from RAID controllers, and
the test systems are eight core Intel and AMD machines running current
btrfs-unstable.
The stalls occur at variable times into the runs. The affected system
ceases to do I/O

Update successful. Thanks.
My desktop updated without a hitch... well, actually, I ran out of
disk space after the download completed, so had to clear some space,
but the update process continued from where I left off without a hitch
-- and that's hardly CentOS's fault. I've still got to update my
laptop, but am a little leery, because I think I've a got a hard drive
failing.
At any rate, thank you *again*

SCSI bus reset with Adaptec 29320ALP and Eonstor RAID
Hello,
I am trying to use a 1.5TB Eonstor raid array with FreeBSD 7.0, but I
don't understand whether it is the raid or the scsi card or something
else that is causing the computer problems when accessing the raid. My
problem is that soon after recognizing the attached disk during boot,
FreeBSD appears to hang for about 10 seconds and then says
