slightly off-topic, RAID program for on-board SAS 2308-4i ?
Does anyone know what program can be used to query the RAID status
from the OS for an on-board LSI SAS 2308-4i?
On this page:
http://docs.avagotech.com/docs/12351997
there is a curious note on the left that reads:
"Integrated MegaRAID support available upon request"
After one mostly fruitless round of chatting with LSI/Avago/Broadcom
and one completely fruitless round of chatting

to get info out of those, you need to install MegaCli64 from LSI Logic,
which has the ugliest command lines and output you've ever seen.
I use the python script below, which I put in

the 2308 isn't actually a megaraid, its a simple SAS HBA that has an
optional raid mode IF its flashed with IR firmware... this only supports
raid 0/1/10. I always(!) flash these with the IT firmware that
turns them back into a

Can't seem to setup remote access to doveadmI'm using
I?m running version 2.1.7 under Raspbian Wheezy (and have been for a number of years). I want to allow one of my other computers to remotely issue doveadm commands to my server but can?t seem to find the right way to add an inet listener to permit this.
Using ?doveconf -a? I?ve found the default service definition for doveadm-server. So I copied that and added it to the dovecot configuration with

Wouldn't that be dependent on how Dovecot auth worker verifies a user exist and is valid? Such as for one method, database queries. How would Dovecot know

Semi-OT: LSI raid card sorta....
I've got a box running C7, just updated (yesterday). It had an onboard
RAID controller, and an HBA. I just installed a new, additional RAID card,
all LSI.
MegaCli64 only sees one controller. I can't seem to find the magic to see
the others. I *know* the new card is a MegaRAID - the box it came in says
so. The system sees it

My firmware seems to be more up to date. Anyway, I will try to update
firmware. I have to check how to do that.

C++ wrapper for speex
hi Tom,
i downloaded your speex wrappers and they're really
what i'm looking for! i really cannot worry about
container support at the moment because i'm working
with real-time audio, and hopefully toward VoIP when
everything else is in order.
im using waveform to capture data from the microphone.
the raw PCM sample is stored in the WAVEHDR
structure's member lpData, and this

OT: hardware: MegaCli and initializing a RAID
Got a new box I'm trying to set up. I configured the RAID from the
firmware, but "fast initialize" was sitting there at 0% (it's about 43 or
45TB). The first time I tried this, I said background, and rebooted the
system.
And the stupid annoying alarm started up as the system came up.
This time, having *finally* figured out how to set up hot spares from the
WebBIOS, I suspended

Handle Options Method
Hi,
I have an Alteon in test (a sip/rtp load balancer).
This Alteon sends to the asterisk box a "SIP OPTIONS" to know if
asterisk is alive.
However, asterisk sends me a 404 message and not a response like, for
example, a Thomson (200 + SDP)
I wrote a very little script (you can find it at the end of the email)
to send an Options message to asterisk/phones to try.
It works

When was the last time you checked?
The ZFS-on-Linux (ZoL) code has been stable for years. In recent months, the BSDs have rebased their offerings from Illumos to ZoL. The macOS port, called O3X, is also mostly based on ZoL.
That leaves

Hardware raid LSI Megaraid not working since Centos 6.6
Happy new year !
We have a SuperMicro server with a LSI MegaRAID 9260-4i controller.
Since Centos 6.6 update (kernel 2.6.32-504), the controller doesn't
initialize at boot. Reverting to kernel 2.6.32-431 allows server to boot
fine.
The server can't boot due to a bug in LSI megaraid module. Boot log ends
by a lot of lines:
RESET_GEN2: retry=xxx, hostdiag=a4
I tried Centos 6.6

Best way to migrate Xen Disk IMG w/LVM''s to a block-device? (e.g. DRBD)
Hi All,
I was hoping to pick someone''s brain about the best way of moving a Xen
disk image (which has LVM''s inside of it) to a new block-device? I
have the target DRBD device ready but unsure what''s the best &
safest way to do it.
I was actually tempted to mount the Xen disk image in a dom0, and make
it visible via loop devices and promote that DRBD node for

LSI MegaRAID experience...
Hey,
anyone using an LSI MegaRAID experienced "disappearing drives"...?
We installed 6 new C6 servers, each with a Supermicro SMC2108 (LSI MegaRAID) controllers and 3 PX-128M5Pro SSDs ( RAID1 + hostswap).
2 weeks (and almost no activity on it, since not in production, apart from installation) later, megacli sees (based on the slot numbers):
