lvm initrd -> initramfs
I converted my lvm root initrd to an initramfs by putting glibc, lvm, pivot_root, my linuxrc, etc. in my initramfs source file. I use ash compiled against klibc to run my linuxrc Unfortunately - pivot_root . initrd - complains - pivot_root: Invalid argument I suspect this may be because you can't pivot_root using a cpio initramfs root? If so, what should I do instead? Should I

How to rebuilt the pxe initramfs
Hello Guys, i read the official red hat documentation of "How built pxe initramfs", but it does not work" the inluded version of initramfs is about 42MB, mine 13MB. My debian system boots from initramfs with root on lvm on raid1 very will with the non xen kernel but fails to find the root vg when booting a xen enabled kernel. Centos 7, netboot using initramfs.img
Hello, I am trying to boot a node using initramfs.? (actually it is a little more complicated, I am booting the node using perceus and vnfs images). Anyway, when booting with a kernel and using initramfs.img, dracut is trying to to configure both Network NICs, the first one would be fine, but I don't want it to ven try to configure the 2nd one using dhcp. How can I stop dracut from

KVM won't boot after update to 1804
Hi Everyone, I have a server that I recently applied all updates to to bring it to 1804. After rebooting the server, it would no longer boot and is instead dropping into a dracut shell. Here's a snippet of the output printed to the console (lines will likely wrap): [ 184.163787] dracut-initqueue[256]: Warning: dracut-initqueue timeout - starting timeout scripts [ 184.672525]

virt-resize - guest unbootable after update-initramfs
Hi, I am having a hard time rationalizing why virt-resize would be the cause of this issue, however it appears to definitely be the trigger, hence trying this list. My environment comprises Debian 10 hosts and guests, although this issue has also been witnessed on Debian 9 hosts running Debian9/10 guests. In all cases, stable versions of libvirt, qemu-kvm, libguestfs- tools, etc running on AMD64

4.9 kernel fails to boot because it didn't have the mpt3sas module
Howdy, I hit a snag trying to install Xen4CentOS on a Supermicro based system (X9DRD-7LN4F with the Broadcom/LSI 2308 chipset). I spent a few hours on this today, I'm posting this here in case it helps anyone else and saves them the frustration I dealt with. On this system I did a fresh install of CentOS 7, updated it, rebooted it, then installed Xen. The system was booting fine using the

Hello, I'm having a strange problem booting a new centos7 installation. Below some background on this. [I have attached the tech details at the bottom of this message] I started a new CentOS7 installation on a VM, so far all good, o/s boots fine. Then I decided to increase VM disk size (initially was 10G) to 13G. Powered off the VM, increased the vhd via the hypervisor, booted from CentOS

Centos 7 Kernel 3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64 does not boot PV
While installing the experemental kernel on a CentOS 7 PV the following happened. After a reboot of the PV the kernel looks to be installed but there is no option for booting it in grub. I attempted to run yum reinstall kernel-4.9.75-204.el7.centos.x86_64 and it installed fine but still no entry in grub. No initramfs existed and I found kernel-modules did not install properly so I then ran
