disabling console blanking ?
Hi! Some of my centos's servers (poweredge 850/ centos 4.3) are crashing for any reason, and so i wanna get screen (kernel) output afterward. Problem is when the server is crashed and the screen blanked, a keypress doesn't do anything at all. Here it is what i've tried _from a ssh session_ : - setterm -blank 0 and many combinations. - "noacpi" boot option ... Any ideas ?

Disable Kernel Screen Blanker
Hey Y'all, I'm trying to turn off the kernel screen blanker that shuts off the video after about 10 minutes of inactivity at the keyboard. After extensive googling I've found two ways to *NOT* do it. In my home .xinitrc setterm -blank 0 -powersave off -powerdown 0 xset s off In /etc/rc.local /usr/bin/setterm -powersave off -blank 0 I've tried both to no effect. Of course

MIssing bell
Hi, Earlier I asked how I could arrange a bell tone on my CentOS box. I have pcspkr loaded, I can play music over my boxes but the system beep or bell is missing. Seeveral people commented on gnome issues, but I'm using only text-mode. Whe I go down with the cursor e.g. on the command-line I dont hear anything. Is there a way to switch the bell/beep on??? Asterisk 11.25.2
My setup using 11.25.1 was working. When I installed 11.25.2 I now get "sort of" working. I am using NAT in the setup. When I have an internal phone and call out I get audio both ways. But when I call IN my phone rings but I have no audio. Is there a new setting I need to tweek ? Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

optim
Dear R-helpers, The function optim implements algorithms that I would like to use. I have function implemented in R, which given the parameters of which minimization is to take place returns a scalar as well as the gradient. Unfortunately optim requires two function _fn_ and _gr_ where fn returns the function value and gr the gradient. Splitting my function in two functions would be easy,

Access to admin shares on clients
Hello. With my installation of Samba I am thinking to use remote client software installation. For this I need to have access to admin shares on clients: such as C$, D$, ADMIN$, etc.... This is where I have a problem. I can't access those shares using Domain Admin credentials and I can't find any info on this anywhere in docs. Perhaps this task is not as common. Would anyone provide

Question regarding S4 objects and reading in excel data with RODBC
L.S. I am trying to get data from an excel sheet using the RODBC library, quite like the example on page 34 of the 'Data manipulation with R' book written by Phil Spector. It seems very straightforward, yet I get the same error everytime I try it, with different excel sheets and trying to tweek the code a bit. This is what I do: library(RODBC) sheet='X:\\example.xls'

What TERMINAL software do you use for MS Windows platform and WHY?
Hi Everyone, I am accustomed to PUTTY and it's very nice as in it allows many many SSH profiles to be saved and allows tunneling etc....but it's not very good when it comes to scrolling up and down, colors, text size, and specially it doesn't give a title to the opened instance. Maybe giving the IP address as the title of the window would help a lot if you have many different servers

X2go server on Centos7, any success?
Folks I have been unable to get X2go to work on a Centos 7 server. I have tried both the out-of-the-box GNOME desktop and the Xfce as well. In both cases, the view from the client is that the screen starts to appear, then goes away. On the server, I see the following messages in /var/log/messages (I have erased the user name and replaced it with XXX). The server is running as a virtual
