MP4/H.264 codec for Firefox?
Hello,
I am trying to get MP4/H.264 playback in Firefox to work on my CentOS
laptop (for vimeo).
I installed the gstreamer plugins as described here:
https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/MultimediaOnCentOS7
(No, I did not install Flash, VLC and all the other stuff. I only want
HTML5 MP4 playback..)
I enabled the nux repos. I did install all available gstreamer plugins,
i.e. -good -bad

C6 firefox esr h.264 support on youtube
I was able to get h.264 support on www.youtube.com/html5 on fedora 21 by
installing
gstreamer1-libav
but that package does not exist in C6 (or it's popular third party repos)
What is the name of the package which adds h.264 to firefox on
youtube/html5 in C6?

Gstreamer1
How do I tell from source rpm's:
1) the build order of gstreamer packages
2) the command line args for the ./configure
For centos 7.
Thanks,

My understanding, which may be incorrect, was that the firefox in EL6 wasn't
built with gstreamer support, so adding that library isn't sufficient.

package matrix dummy.cpp
Hi,
The recommended package matrix contains an empty file src/dummy.cpp
which results in using g++ instead of gcc to link Matrix.so.
What is the reason for that? Is there any difference between using g++
or gcc? (There are no other cpp files in the source)
I asked the maintainers of the package (matrix-authors at r-project.org)
3 weeks ago but haven't received any answer.

CentOS 7.2 - no GUI login after upgrade
After installing and enabling the centos-release-cr repo on my CentOS 7.1
laptop; I ran yum clean all and yum update. Yum complained about gstreamer1
dependencies that is caused by epel repo; therefore, I excluded it from the
epel repo and run yum update one more time and it went through.
After the update was completed I rebooted the laptop and I will just get

You *need* to upgrade the gstreamer libraries or you break gnome (which breaks
gdm). Uninstall whatever is clashing from epel, upgrade gstreamer, all will
be well.

SU2200RTXLCD2U and protocol 4006
Thank you for your answer.
I will try to investigate the possibility that the Tripplite serial cable
has a different pinout than a standard RS-232 serial cable.
I wouldn't use the NUT at this point because I don't think I will be able
to write a software update to adapt the NUT to my needs.
My idea was first to test the protocol via a serial terminal client
directly connected to the UPS,

Does centos 6.8 support gstreamer 1.8?
Hi,
I found gstreamer offcial have just announced 1.8.2 version. ("gstreamer.freedesktop.org")
But centos 6 only support gstreamer 0.10. When will centos 6 support gstreamer 1.8?
Thanks!

SU2200RTXLCD2U and protocol 4006
Hello
I asked Tripplite the serial protocol implemented in the UPS model
SU2200RTXLCD2U.
The protocol is the 4006, which is not supported by the NUT.
I connected my UPS unit to a serial terminal client (both from a Windows
machine and a Linux machine), set the communication parameters to those
indicated in the protocol spec, and tried to open the communication,
unfortunately with no success.

Question about compiling older package
I have a gst-rtsp-server 0.10.8.2 that I am trying to compile on
CentOS 7.2
I get this error:
rtsp-media.c error 'g_cond_free' is deprecated (declared at
/usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/deprecated/gthread.h:283)
[-Werror=deprecated-declarations]
What can I do about that to compile this package (I'm compiing from source)
?
Thanks

Hi All - is there an alternate gstreamer1 for CentOS 8 ?
Two reasons why I need it.

Both don;t seem present.

Device not supported?
Hello
I am trying to install the NUT on CentOS 6 (2.6.32-696.3.1.el6.x86_64).
First I installed it using:
yum install epel-release --enablerepo=extras
yum install nut
And when I run it by:
sbin/upsdrvctl start
(that's where it installed it using the package)
I had the following message:
"This TrippLite device (09ae:1330) is not (or perhaps not yet) supported by
usbhid-ups. [...]"

CentOS rpm package installation
Hello
I am not a linux expert.
The output of uname -r on my system returns:
2.6.32-696.3.1.el6.x86_64
hence I am trying to install this rpm:
sudo yum install nut-2.7.4-9.fc27.x86_64.rpm
but I got failed dependencies.
Is there a repository I am supposed to set up to get those dependencies
from?
