RAID 1 Post Install
Hello all, I've got CentOS 5.2 installed on an old Pentium III server. The server is used by a club at my school, and they are rapidly running out of room on the internal IDE drives that are configured in software RAID 1. I have a Silicon Image SATA controller in the server, and I was planning on adding two more SATA hard drives to the computer. Is there a GUI like Disk Druid for

Recover files from a broken ext3 partition
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 [Please CC me on answers, I'm not subscribed] Hi everyone, I have got a hard disk which was damaged by a fall and would like to recover a few files from that. (There is a backup for most of the data, but a handful of recent files are missing. These are important enough to spend some time on them, but not for paying a professional data recovery

balance disables nodatacow
I have a 3 disk raid1 filesystem mounted with nodatacow. I have a folder in said filesystem with the ''C'' NOCOW & ''Z'' Not_Compressed flags set for good measure. I then copy in a large file and proceed to make random modifications. Filefrag shows no additional extents created, good so far. A big thank you to the those devs who got that working. However, after

One possible plan for remote support
John, It's probably worth setting out from what the problem is / what we are trying to solve here. At the moment if you run a command like: virt-inspector -d Guest then libguestfs asks libvirt [-d option] for the XML corresponding to the libvirt guest called 'Guest'. This will contain disk sections like this: <disk type='block' device='disk'>

Looking for a life-save LVM Guru
Dear All, I am in desperate need for LVM data rescue for my server. I have an VG call vg_hosting consisting of 4 PVs each contained in a separate hard drive (/dev/sda1, /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1, and /dev/sdd1). And this LV: lv_home was created to use all the space of the 4 PVs. Right now, the third hard drive is damaged; and therefore the third PV (/dev/sdc1) cannot be accessed anymore. I would like

VirtIO disk 'leakage' across guests?
We are in the process of migrating several stand-alone server hosts onto a CentOS-6 kvm virtual host. We also use Webmin to administer our hosts. All of the additional VirtIO disks assigned to some of the guests have been added through virt-manager as well. Recently I have encountered a situation

install problem
I shot myself in the foot today. I had a centos 5.11 install running fine. Doing a backup, I overwrote the /bin directory by mistake. I couldn't get my machine to recognize a centos 6.5 or 6.6 install dvd, so I put in the original centos 5.10 install disc and re-installed. No problem. During the text installer, I told it to install grub on /dev/sdc1, which is /boot. My raid arrays with lots

isohybrid boot from logical partition

Yes, these are my thoughts as well. I think the jump from GRUB to the isohybrid code on the logical partition is working fine, but when the isohybrid code is trying to jump to
