long filenames (8.3) issue
Hi there,
We map a Sun Microsystems (Solaris 9) drive to a Windows 2003 server.
This works fine except for the long UNIX (tm) filenames that are mapped
as truncated 8.3 filenames on the MS server. Needless to say for backup
purposes this defeats the object. I have scanned the archives but must
be looking in the wrong places because I am unable to find a solution to
this problem. Can anyone

Fix sharing ACL
Gentlemen,
I am struggling to solve this problem.
My file server Samba 4.4.5.
Even the administrator user (domain admin) could not write to the share.
Could someone give me a hint, in order to solve this problem?
shared folder: /mnt/data
Folder permissions:
# getfacl /mnt/data/teste/
getfacl: Removing leading '/' from absolute path names

cannot join domain unless its root user
I'm atttempting to setup samba 3 as a primary domain controller which
authenticates users from a windows 2k/xp prof workstation and maps
their respective home folders as well as their respective shared
folders on the gentoo server. For example, I have the following groups
with their designated shares:

Enable Shadow Copy service
Dear,
I appreciate the initial contact.
I realized these attempts, but it still fails.
For testing purposes, I created 2 LVM, one for the share folder and another to store the snapshots / shadow copy.
My smb.conf looked like this:
[data]
comment = Folder data
path = /mnt/dados
read only = No
browseable = yes
inherit acls = Yes
inherit permissions = Yes

Dear Rowland,
In both Samba installed, the version is 4.4.5, rises the Centos7.
We have 2 DC's Samba and fileserver.
If it was missing some information, just ask.
Follows the smb.conf main DC:

"test page failed to print" - How to I resolve this?
This is a new one to me... Drivers install fine, but on some of the
printers I get the "test page failed to print" message. I'm getting
nothing in the samba logs from the workstation, smbd, nor from the cups
logs. I've googled myself silly, but can only find other people asking
the same or similar question. Some of them have found permissions to be
the problem, but in
