Network hangs after several hours (Centos 6 recently upgraded kernel/glibc)
Hi all, We have a development server we have just tried updating the kernel & glibc after recent recommendations. Its been stable previously for a few years with only scheduled reboots. Its running Centos 6.6(final) 2.6.32-573.18.1.el6.x86_64 GNU libc 2.12 Upgraded via YUM, rebooted, all fine for several hours, and then network seemed to hang. Not much happening as its a dev server we are

Network hangs after several hours (Centos 6 recently upgraded kernel/glibc)
Just noticed that in the trace, it shows an old kernel, so I don't think grub was automatically selecting the latest kernel. Just wondering what process updates the default to be the latest kernel, and if a problem could be an update but grub selecting an older kernel, but other packages updated ? Network hangs after several hours (Centos 6 recently upgraded kernel/glibc)
Thanks Richard, We currently do all security updates at short notice (as opposed to everything), via a script. I've amended the grub config and rebooted to make sure it will reboot into the correct kernel now, and yes /etc/sysconfig/kernel was different to production servers. We may try all packages if it continues to be unstable now and maybe whatever as its on a dev server to test. Thanks

Problem detecting Sil3124 SATA controllers off of Sandy Bridge northbridge-connected PCIe slots
Hi, We're having some trouble with detection of a couple of Sil3124 SATA controller cards on newer motherboard and processor combos. Specifically, we're running a Supermicro X9SCM-F motherboard (latest BIOS) and Intel E3-1220v2 CPU. What we're seeing: - Syba Sil3124 PCIe cards are only being detected when installed in PCIe Slot 4 -- The motherboard documentation shows that this

VGA passthrough - guest shows blank screen on startup
Greetings, I''m attempting to do gfx_passthru with the primary graphics adapter (03:00.0), passing it to a guest. I can unbind it from the host but when I fire up the guest OS my monitor loses signal from the graphics card and that''s that. The GFX card is dual DVI, I''ve tried both slots. Host is Linux 2.6.32.14-1.2.105.xendom0.fc12.x86_64, Guest is Windows 7. PC is an

Centos 5.3 install on gigabyte GA-MA790FX-UD5P motherboard
Hi, I am having some difficulties installing centos 5.3 on the gigabyte GA-MA790FX-UD5P motherboard. Has anyone got centos booting on this motherboard? so far I have tried the following. + disabled the jmicron controller as this caused errors on booting JMB363 bad irq(0): will probe later error (this error caused the installation to stop at this point) + tested all components in another

Cannot assign device in Xen-unstable [VT-d]
Hello, I FINALLY got Xen working with VT-d. I compiled Xen-unstable (3.3) from Mercurial on CentOS 5.2, but compiled my own kernel-xen from the latest CentOS SRPM. (Made sure pciback was built-in and not a module, as the stock kernel-xen has it as a module.) I''m probably going to write a how-to soon, so stay tuned! I have a JMicron SATA/PATA PCI Express controller with a DQ35JO

PCI passthrough of a SATA/PATA controller, "FLR functionality not supported"
Hi there, I have a question regarding PCI passthrough on the Citrix XenServer 5.6 (Xen 3.4.2). I already managed to get some soundcard passed through to a Windows guest. So I think my knowledge about that topic isn''t _that_ low. But I cannot seem to pass through a SATA/PATA controller to a Linux guest. I have some additional CD/DVD burner (PATA) attached to a SATA/PATA controller

VGA passthrough ? AMD-FX8, GA-990FXA-UD3, G210
Hello, Like many trying and posting here, I''m new to VGA passthrough. Computer was bought, checking compatibility from http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/VTd_HowTo The hardware is mostly not exactly on the list, but mainly new versions of the same series (I think). IOMMU "seems" to be working (not 100% sure what to check). I used debian/wheezy kernel and xen, dom0 and HVM domu.

SATA controller passthrough - option rom
I''m using xen-unstable, and I''ve successfully made a passthrough of an intel storage controller to an HVM domU, binding with pciback. 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (rev 05) I can access the array from within Windows by installing Intel Rapide Storage Drivers, and everything works as it should. I only have a

Does CentOS support dual graphics cards with 2 monitors each?
I have a user who wants to have 4 monitors attached to his CentOS 6.4 system. I know that you can't use both on-board video and a PCI video card at the same time, but what about two PCI video cards? The system seems to recognize them as shown by the lspci -v output below, but I can't get Xorg to use the second card. Has anyone done this? If so, what is the trick to get it to work?

Assistance in tracking a kernel/nouveau error
Greetings, I am resending this as it doesn't appear in the archives and no one responded...maybe it got routed to /dev/null or something :-) I have asked this question the Scientific Linux mailing list (a few months ago) and got the suggestion I talk to the kernel guys. I pinged a kernel guy I know, and his suggestion was to ask the Nouveau list. So here I am. :-) I have had my work laptop

Re: Xen-users Digest, Vol 64, Issue 52
Dear James and Andrew! Thanks much for the help, it seems that viridian=1 solved my problem! I forced a heavy load last night and no reboots were issued! I confirm that I had multiple cpus assigned and dom0 heavy load started the reboot problema, but with viridian=1, everything is OK! Thanks again for everything!
