logwatch named logs
ever since implementing the no-recursion-on-outside queries fix on one of my name servers, my logwatch emails have been 10-20MB/day, filled with crud like... client 10.191.192.212 query (cache) 'm.777.liyuanxi.com/A/IN' denied: 1 Time(s) client 10.192.34.96 query (cache) 'dyjwntl.www.0411gogo.com/A/IN' denied: 1 Time(s) client 10.192.43.105 query (cache)

mdraid Q on c6...
so, I installed a c6 system offsite today, had to do it in a hurry. box has 2 disks meant to be mirrored... I couldn't figure out how to get anaconda to build a LVM root on a mirror, so I ended up just installing a /boot and vg_system on sda and raid it later. every howto I find for linux says to half-raid the OTHER disk, COPY everything to it, then boot from it and wipe the first disk

TPM and secure boot
has anyone implemented any sort of 'secure boot' using TPM 1.2 modules on the server boards using CentOS 6.x ? I'm not finding much concrete stuff on how to setup and manage a system like this, but I've been asked to research it for a security application internally at my job. our primary application for the TPM is for client authentication certificates in an SSL application

Packages installation in CentOs
Hi, I have a customized CentOS 5.5 kernel. I want it to upgrade it to CentOS 7. The approach I have decided was to take the CentOS 7 and then install the customized packages that are there in the CentOS 5.5. While trying to install the customized packages, I could install most of the packages, but I couldn't install the below in the latest CentOS 7. 1. rhpl 2. mod_perl 3.

is rpmforge now considered 'friendly' with EPEL? I normally only use EPEL as an addition repo, but one package I want to install on this one system is ffmpeg, and I'm finding it on rpmforge only... but its install wants to mix epel and rpmforge packages... Installing: ffmpeg x86_64 0.6.5-1.el6.rf rpmforge 2.7 M Installing for dependencies: a52dec

drbd and el6
hey, I have an application for drbd replication between a pair of EL6 servers, and I just realized that drbd is no longer built in. googling found me this blog on doing it using ElRepo distributions... http://www.broexperts.com/2012/06/how-to-install-drbd-on-centos-6-2/ is that still best practice? or is there a better distribution? or really... my application is a BackupPC server

CentOS 5.x and HP ACU CLI
I had to install C5 on a dev server for various reasons (legacy system support and so forth). This dev server is a HP DL180 G6, with a SmartArray P410 raid card... I've installed hpacucli via the RPM from HP's site, but its not finding the controller... C5 (64 bit) is using the default CCISS drivers for this card. # hpacucli ctrl all show config Error: No controllers detected.
