CentOS 6.5 + Samba 4.1.6 - Variable Substitution (smb.conf)
Hello everyone. So, I come to you because I have a little problem when setting up my domain controller based on CentOS 6.5 and Samba 4.1.6. Everything works well, except for one small detail, which in my case blocking me. I would like to automatically generate the home directory of the user during the first connection (from Win or Linux), but the problem is that for some unknown reason,

Re: PDC with roaming profiels
Hi All, Hopefully someone knows the answer to this? I have a RH 7.3 box running Samba 2.3a as a PDC for over 1 1/2 years now. Things are good for the most part, except some minor annoyances with the way windows (2k) is handling the roaming profiles. Maybe I need to alter the permissions for the users profile, any insight would be wonderful though. The profiles copied to the local box under

W7 and Roaming Profiles on two different PDC
Hello, I use a Samba 3.6.12-59.23.1-3256-SUSE-SL12.3-x86_64 coming with openSUSE 12.3 as a PDC. I also use roaming profiles with Windows 7 Pro clients. This works perfect. Now I need to _move some clients_ / profiles to another server with Samba 4.1.9-3.22.1-3256-SUSE-oS13.1-i386 (openSUSE 13.1). This one works already fine, but with different users. So I can exlude mistakes in my

How to debug not working Roaming profiles on Samba 4 AD setup?
Hi, thank your for your answer. > Are the 'File servers' joined to the domain ? Yes > Are the smb.conf files you posted complete No, they are abstracted ones, because they are very long > if not, can you post the complete ones, exactly as they are on the computers (you can sanitize them if you need to) Yes > Try taking a look here:

Problem with Windows 7 and roaming profiles
Hello together, we try to setup a samba domain controller with LDAP and roaming profiles for Win7-Clients. Everything looks fine last Friday but today the clients did not longer save changes to the profiles. There is no error in samba log and also no in the windows log. If I delete a profile from a client it is loaded correctly at next logon, but the changes are not saved at logout. Windows XP

Win2k/XP doesn't execute logon.bat while logging in to Samba PDC
Hi all! I'm going mad about getting my shares mapped to my win2k and winXP machines from my Samba PDC Version 3.0.2 on Debian. Win-machines doesn't seem to execute logon.bat at all, except when i log on as root. I've set the ownership and chmod 0775 all logon.bat files to eatch user on my network. Am i just blind or are there something obvious/very wrong with my config? my smb.conf

Hello, First of all I would like to thank the Samba Project Group for this state of the art software. I would like to thank every body for helping each other out. Now we are at version 4.0.9 and we are planning to

I really think its something simple but I don't know how to fix it. The error I get is this one from W2k when trying to join the samba domain. ""The Following error occurred to join the domain smis". Memory leak in 3.0.22?
Hi, I have just switched from FreeBSD 4.11 using 3.0.21b to NetBSD 3.0.1 using 3.0.22. With the same configuration, and the same clients, I am now seeing what appears to be some rather large memory leakage [ I am not sure if this is the fault of Samba or NetBSD ]. Eventually the process will run out of memory (machine only has 256MB of RAM) and the Windows clients (2000, SP4 and all the

Problem browsing shares "element not found"
Good afternoon, I have a new Samba414 install on clean Ubuntu server 12.04. All working except I cannot browse into shares. I get "not accessible" and then "element not found". Using "net use" works fine - I can "browse" a share that has been attached to a drive letter but I cannot browse the UNC path. That is to say NET USE P: \\MYDOMAIN\public works,

Conversion smbpasswd 2.2.8 to 3.0.13
Dear All I'm about migrating Samba 2.2.8 to 3.0.13 on Sparc, Solaris 8. Compilation and Installation without any problem. Runs fine with exception of 2.2.8-user validation in the domain (no problems with validation of WXP- and W2K-Client Machines, newly set users (./smbpasswd -a username) works perfectly ). I simply have copied smbpasswd 2.2.8 to the diferent directory of Samba 3.0.13.
