Delayed Write failures with Windows XP
We have users who have their desktop folders on a Samba share. Some of them have been getting "Delayed Write Failure" messages recently on the "cookies/index.dat" file. At first I thought it was a fluke related to a network outage we experienced, but now I'm finding out it had been happening previously. This is Samba 2.2.5 on SuSE Linux SLES7 on S/390. Does anyone have

Linux permissions vs Samba permissions
Okay, admittedly I'm running an old version 2.0.5, but, why do I have to set the eXecute permission in Linux before Samba will let a Windows client see any files? Why would execute have anything to do with read and/or write? I would think I could set -rw-rw---- or -rw-rw-rw- and be just fine, but oh no, you get an empty list and cannot create new files until I change it to -rwxrwx--- or

XCP Hanging at Setting Hostname
Hi, XCP is hanging at (or just after) "Setting Hostname" If you keep trying eventually it gets past this point. It might take 5-20 attempts to get XCP to boot. When it does boot all is stable. I have the same problem on 4 different boxes. 2 x INTEL Black Box Dual XEON server. 1 x AMD II x250 1 x Core2Duo NoteBook used for DEV. All 3 boxes are using mdadm raid 1. The

Centos Realtek Network driver for Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Greetings, I am tearing my hair at getting this to work under centos 5.5/Ubuntu 10.04. Any suggesstions (Repos, RPMs etc)? My MB Intel embedded NIC blow up after a lightning (Mumbai get _real_ heavy mansoon rains inter alia). I want this to make work under Centos 5.x (and 6.x subsequently who DVD I have been downloading with a pithy 128kbps connection). -- Regards, Rajagopal

CentOS 6.5 driver for a Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 chipset
Hello CentOS admins. I am an AIX admin bent on learning CentOS. Yesterday I downloaded CentOS-6.5-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso, burned a DVD and loaded it onto a Lenovo IdeaPad N585 laptop. All went well, except for getting the integrated wireless to work. Here is some info and what I tried so far. # lspci|egrep -i wireless 06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless

Ndiswrapper for Realtek 8180L on CentOS 5.0
Hello, I had installed CentOS 5.0 on my desktop PC having a Realtek 8180L based PCI wireless card. Since the drivers for this chip are not available in the kernel, I created RPMs for ndiswrapper-1.43 from the source code and installed them. I could configure the wireless card and use it but invariably the system freezes after sometime. No such thing happens if the wireless card is disabled. In

Centos 5.0 x86-64 install crashes with Realtek 8111B Ethrenet
While installing Centos 5.0 x86-64 on a Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2 motherboard which has Realtek 8111B Ethernet chip - Anaconda crashes. I select the option to use the Centos online repository for extra packages - I am asked to enter IP address etc. The drop box to select the Ethernet interface is blank. If I enter valid IP address and gateway - anaconda crashes and the system reboots from CD. I

Ethernet collisions with Realtek driver in HVM
Hello, I just noticed that our HVM guests seem to be showing consistent collisions on the Realtek ethernet driver. Has anyone else noticed this? A typical FreeBSD guest will have # of output collisions almost on par with # of output packets after a few weeks of "normal" traffic (mainly doing work through ssh). Xen 3.2.1. Regards, Mark

[pxelinux] fix for Realtek PXE implementation
I found (and fixed) a problem with my realtek onboard 8139 controller. dhcpd server sends filename "pxelinux.0" but realtek requests "pxelinux.0\377" (i.e. the octal character 377 is appended), resulting in a file not found during the tftpd phase. I fixed this by adding a mapping to tftpd: # strip ending garbage from filenames (Realtek PXE bug) r ^([[:graph:]]*)(.+)$ \1

conflict between Realtek 8139 (client) and 3c2000T (server) NIC's with Samba? - solved
hi, Problem seems to be solved. I could kick myself for not trying the obvious first: updating the drivers for the Realtek card by downloading the latest from their site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=16&Software=True The problem seems to be solved. thanks for the fast response. cheers, Bart van Dicjk
