[Bridge] Transparently bridge Vlans to eth0
Hi,
I'm using Vlans in my network as a way of preventing
pier to pier communication - I only want nodes in the
network to talk to the gateway (a linux box).
I have successfully set up lots of sub interfaces
using the vconfig too, one for each vlan. What I would
like to be able to do is remove the ip address from
each of these subinterfaces eth0.x and bridge them to
eth0. I have successfully

VLAN configuration
Hi to the ML.
I''m new to VLAN configuration, and combining it to XEN is a bit difficult.
I want to use VLAN because it''s possible to "arping" from a domU to an
other, and VLAN looks like; the only solution to prevent that.
May be I''m wrong if someone got a solution, I may be interrested. I''ve
also tryed ebtables, but nothing to prevent arp

load balancing: per route or per interface?
Hi!
I''m doing load balancing for 5 dsl lines, each one with a dsl router
attached to a linux machine ethernet plug. The problem is that I''m
adding 15 more dsl lines, and I don''t have enough PCI slots in the
linux machine to sum up 20 ethernet plugs (I already have 2 quad
ethernet cards).
So I''m considering connecting all dsl routers and the linux machine to

VLAN issue
Thank you everyone.
OK, the mystery deepens, I guess. The machine does need to support several
VLAN's, it is currently on a trunkport (8021q encapsulated), it made it
into the ARP table - which I specifically tested for by physically
unplugging the table, clearing the ARP table and plugging it back in.
The ARP table currently looks like this:
hq#show arp

vlan traffic shaping.
I couldn''t find anyone who had actually made it work via google so I
guess I''ll ask here.
My setup is a VPN point to point link. The VPN is a modified version of
Openvpn where I''m using zlib compression to improve the compression a
bit.
The goal is to shape traffic coming from a routing server through the
vpn to the endpoint of the vpn and in such a way maximize the

VLAN issue
OK, thanks again for all your help.
I have resolved this, finally. The problem was that I configured VLAN 48 as
the native VLAN on the trunk port. That was a mistake as apparently the
native VLAN is the one where Cisco does not bother to tag packets.
For now I set the native VLAN to VLAN 1 and that works.
Cheers,
Boris.

SPITS 0.0.9b
Hello list,
I''ve been using linux and open source software for over 5 years now and
I want to give something back to the community.
I''m working on a PHP-based project (SPITS). The aim of this project is
to easly create a shaping script, using a web interface, without needing
to know tc and iptables command line options.
As the project is now in beta stage, soon a CSS

VLAN issue
Do you need the whole configuration? On the switch end, we have the
relevant VLAN (VLAN 48) with the assigned IP address of 192.168.48.101 and
the range of ports (Gi1/0/1 - Gi1/0/8) assigned to that VLAN.
Seems - and acts - like a legitimate setup and works fine, except for this
particular instance.
Thanks.
Boris.

VLAN issue
Steve,
Thanks, makes sense.
I just don't see why I have to effectively waste an extra IP address to get
my connection established.

Andrew and Dennis are spot on.
Their conclusions about your server being connected to an access port and
not a trunk port would be my conclusion as well.

vlans+bonding+bridging
hi,
I have to configure Xen server and DomU''s which should be able
to talk to different vlans - depending on services put on DomU''s.
I would like to enslave 2 NICs via bond interface.
Both NICs are on trunk ports which are configured in the same way, the
same native vlan.
I don''t know, if I have to add vlans tagging to eth* interfaces then

Broadcom NIC Binding under Centos 4.2
Hello all,
I'm having unusual difficulty configuring teaming with Centos 4.2.
The 2 NIC's are Broadcom. The HW is HP DL360 and there is no teaming
driver for RHEL4 since it comes with package (says HP).
Since there is no teaming driver from centos (as far as I know), I tried
the Broadcom Driver, configured the team file, but the team just wont
come up. A Virtual Interface should be up

Bug in shorewall
I just added 802.1Q VLAN support to redhat initscripts. And after
support was ready, I tried to restart shorewall. Well it blew into
pieces. Seems like shorewall can''t handle device names like:
eth0.3 very properly. That''s default naming of vlan devices. eth1 is
master device and 3 is id of my test vlan.
So when I added to interfaces line:
home eth0.3 detect
