I have many different centos machines that are hanging regulary. I believe this is due to something our application is doing - not a centos specific problem. When the machines hang, there is no access to the console or remote access(ssh, rsh, etc). Any tips on debugging this issue? All too often, my ssh session will freeze. I'm fairly certain the problem is at my end. None of the tilde commands work. In particular, ~# and ~. are nonfunctional. I can write to ssh's terminal window from another terminal window. If I kill the ssh process, I can ssh in again. We're seeing lots of attackers running scripts that send digits until they strike a DISA, misconfigured mailbox, etc. (Assuming it wasn't a stupid employee forwarding an inbound call to a 9xxxxxxx number etc). I've finally made the switch to CentOS 5.1 (I had been running 4.6). So far, so good, but I do have a few issues. First, I can not find kermit (or ckermit) in any of the repos (base, extras, centosplus, rpmforge). On my 4.6 systems, /usr/bin/kermit was provided by the package ckermit in the base repo. My HP USB C3180 All-in-one printer accepts jobs, but does not print. A job simply sits in the queue. I haven't used it on this computer for a while. It will print a test page when I connect it.
