manpages in mdoc(7)
Dear authors of Vorbis, currently, the manpages that come with vorbistools are written in the traditional man(7) markup language. I am proposing to rewrite them into the semantic markup of the mdoc(7) language. I am willing to do the work. Both the man(7) and mdoc(7) languages have been around for decades, and are supported by the prevalent formatters: groff(1) on most Linuxes and mandoc(1) on

rewrite manpages to mdoc(7)
Dear authors of NSD, currently, the manpages that come with NSD are written in the traditional man(7) markup language. I am proposing to rewrite them into the semantic markup of the mdoc(7) language. I am willing to do the work. See a version of nsd-checkzone.8 below as an example. Both the man(7) and mdoc(7) languages have been around for decades, and are supported by the prevalent formatters:

automake 1.6 compatability patch
This patch cleans up the vorbis-tools Makefile.am files so they work with both automake 1.4 and 1.6. Some changes to configure.in were also needed in order to get things to work (and to fix some ac 2.50 issues). Please remove config.h from cvs as it is a generated file and empty anyway. automake 1.6 isn't really incompatable with 1.4, it's just more picky about you sticking to the rules:

[PATCH] configure.ac: Add mandoc as valid formatter
Hi, On systems that have mandoc installed but are missing an nroff binary, the configure script will fall back to pre-formatted manual pages despite the fact that mandoc could be used. The proposed patch adds mandoc as a valid formatter to configure.ac. As mandoc supports the -mdoc flag, it can simply be added to the list of nroff-like binaries. [vorbis-tools] Some patches coming from Debian bugs
Hello. Attached are some patches that some Debian users of vorbis-tools have sent to our BTS over the years (numbers refer to Debian bugs). It'd be nice to see them integrated. They apply cleanly to SVN as of today. The largefile_support one is a bit bigger than just the configure.ac since the submitter adviced that config.h got included in all C source files before the standard includes,

Patch for unformatted manpages
The attached patch (relative to the current CVS snapshot) uses a perl script to convert the OpenSSH manpages from the BSD -mdoc format to the -man format used by other systems. This allows the unformatted manpages to be installed normally, rather than defaulting to preformatted pages. I'd like to see this patch integrated into the portable version of OpenSSH. Please let me know what you

ices produces ogg-files with two logical bitstreams
Hi everybody! I encountered a strange problem with ices-2.0.0. I use a icecast2/ices2 combo ti stream live audio and I use ices to record my stream. This worked well until last week. Since then the recording function produces somehow corrupt ogg-files. I cannot decode them to wav with oggdec, the program tells me "Only one logical bitstream currently supported". ogginfo prints out

Dear vorbis-dev lurkers, I bring you the first beta release of vorbis-tools 1.3.0. It has quite a few new features and the final version will have even more, so I am sure it is to everyone's benefit that it gets as much tested as possible so we can do a quick release. Here's the changelog so far: * Fixed an error in configure.ac; --with-speex/flac work again (#1319) * Corrected

vcut(1) and its manpage
Below is a diff to vcut.c and its vcut.1 manpage, which - rewrites the manpage in the mdoc(7) markup as offered in my previous message, and while there: - drops the [] around cutpoint as it is _not_ optional - adds the [] around [+] as it _is_ optional - drops the argument name difference between "cutpoint" and "cuttime" - adds the usage sentence about "." output

oggdec channel ordering bug
Hi. I just noticed that oggdec channel reordering for WAV is bogus. With irrelevant clutter removed, oggenc has the following code: permute = {0,2,1,4,5,3} // oggenc/audio.c:401 for (j) to_vorbis[j] = from_wav[permute[j]] // oggenc/audio.c:619 While oggdec has the following code: permute = {0,2,1,5,3,4} // oggdec/oggdec.c:229 for (j)

smbmount - file permissions on RH7
Greetings in Christ our Saviour. I am having an enormous amount of difficulties trying to do something that should be quite easy. Obviously, I am missing something. I have read everything I can find on this, and have tried everything I can think of and more... I am trying to mount a Win98 drive on my Redhat 7.0 box. The mounting is no problem. However, when I log into my user account and try
