vorbis quality - quality scale vs bitrate
Hi there,
I'm using libvorbis in my program and need to encode to target bitrate. I
know libvorbis prefer to use quality scale but I can't use it.
I've found something at faq http://vorbis.com/faq/#quality
*For now, quality 0 is roughly equivalent to 64kbps average, 5 is roughly
160kbps, and 10 gives about 400kbps. Most people seeking
very-near-CD-quality audio encode at a quality

[LLVMdev] regarding multicore support for LLVM
Hi all,
I am new to this LLVM. I went through the documenation of LLVM but
I didn't find any support for Multicore. Is there any such possibility where
multicore architecture can be exploited using LLVM.
Thanks
Vijay

Newbie: Crossing my fingers
I just ordered the Asterisk Developers Lite kit. My environment will be the RH9 Linux server and a Windows workstation with Samba. I also of course have analog lines and DSL. I am interested in SIP development.
I already downloaded the Asterisk software. What else should I download.
Is there a doc that basically tells you the steps to install Asterisk
and get it up and running? I would like a

Symbolic Link
Hi List;
To create the symbolic link, I read in the documenation that I have to type this command:
# ln -s /usr/src/'uname -r' /usr/src/linux-2.4
1) What it means by 'uname -r'?
2) Why I have to create such symbolic link to do pointing for the kernel? For what exctly will be used with asterisk?
3) What is the relation between creating such symbolic link and build directory?

~ files not excluded from build (PR#3071)
My docs say files ending in ~ are excluded by default from R CMD build.
Doesn't look that way to me. I got them with 1.6.2 and 1.7.0.
My documenation is 1.6.0 (that is, the one saying *~ is excluded).
I have no .Rbuildignore of my own.

New Docs - First Look
Ok, my first complete swipe for the new docs (but still with old rdoc
default output templates) can be seen at:
http://www.mktec.com/dev_www/wxruby-docs/
Most of the classes/methods documentation came out fine, but I still
need finetune because some methods don''t get documented at all, like
methods in the classes Bitmap and Frame.
Once I can get it so all things get documented

contrasts error message in lm
Dear all,
I would like to find a linear regression model for a rather large dataset
(27 independent variables). However, when I run lm the following error is
reported:

Newbie seeks helps ordering ancestors from acts_as_tree
I''m sure this is really obvious but I''m feeling my way here with rails
(and Ruby) and have tried a couple of things without success. So, can
anyone tell me the best way to reverse order the retuen list of
ancestors.
In the controller I have:
@ancestors = @category.ancestors
which returns an array starting at the parent and ending with the root.
When I then loop through the

Linking asterisk servers
Hi ,
I still can't figure this out.
We have two different network connections with a asterisk servers
each. I want to make calls between asterisk servers. (i.e.) i want to
call from a number in Asterisk server A to a number in Asterisk server
B. I want to implement this using SIP. Will be very useful for me if
someone helped to make this work. Thanks in Advance.

ACL problem under FC9
Hi list,
This is my first post and I hope I will not make people mad as this may
have been answered before.
Here it goes.
I am running Samba for some years now (3 years) and had absolutely no
problems. For the last month on one of the machines the NT ACL stopped
working and everyone have full access everywhere even if they are not in
the acl.
If I try to add them and restrict them only to read

puppet/naginator?
I''m very interested in the way that puppet appears to be able to
generate nagios configurations though I can''t seem to find any
documenation on how it works:
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/naginator
is clearly a placeholder page...
Meanwhile the various pieces of info at links such as:

are just teasing me.

R web site-Useability & finding varous bits of documentation
I was starting to write a note to a prospective R-user and came to the point of explaining how to get useful introductory information on R.
After mentioning the Into and the FAQs I went on to try to explain how to use a lot of the contributed information.
However I realised that there seems to be no direct way to get to Other Publications or Contributed Documenation.
The best I have seen is

Questions about Sortable javascript

I''ve been playing with sortable, the demos on script.aculo.us and
reading the javascript. I hope I''m not just missing the documentation
somewhere but I can''t find it. I want to do something like Sortable
for the admin side of an open source ecommerce project I''m working on

rsync 2.5.5 and the exclude directive - additional behavior
And, I've found more.
It turns out that even though the exclude directive is ignored for
inbound data in rsyncd.conf, it is NOT ignored for the --delete option.
I've seen this behavior occur when I've deleted a file from the sending
side (client) that is inside a tree that's matched by the server-side
(rsyncd) exclude directive. The deletion is ignored, as the
