dimensioning
I have been trying to get a feel for scaling or dimensioning using asterisk
11.
if I desire to use something like a dell r320, hardware RAID, 2G E5-2420,
4G RAM
and only SIP trunking using gsm (least bandwidth and no transcoding)
how many calls "out" can I expect to make at one time and asterisk still
be OK and responsive?
Thanks,
Jerry

Dell R320 server
Is there a way on Dell R320 (two power supplies and hardware RAID-1) on
centos
to get a message that a power supply is failing or that one of the
hardware RAID disks is failing?
Sure there is the front panel - but no-one is there ...
Is that reported to linux/centos some way?
This is my first R320.
Thanks,
Jerry

slow bootloader on Dell R320
Hi all !
Thanks for the very good support of Dell R320 hardware, perc H310 is
well supported, BCM5720 seems to work correctly and performances are
great.
The only problem i have found is very strange. The FreeBSD bootloader
take many times to load, 30sec-2minutes to boot the kernel and show the
bootloader menu. After that, the system boots properly, at a normal
speed.
Is there any issue or

Internal timing under load is critical ?
Hi
I am evaluating some voice broadcasting solutions based on Asterisks for more than 1000 simultaneous calls.
Connection to Asterisk all are based on SIP and SIP Trunks so no DAHDI hardware is required.
According to some recommendations like http://osdial.org/howto/? "Internal timing is very critical with Asterisk when it is under load"
and we must use DAHDI hardware or "USB Voice

CentOS 6 and an SAS drive, hardware
This is... odd. Got a 6.8 box, a Dell R320 lspci tells me
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2008
[Falcon] (rev 03)
so it *should* accept an SAS drive. I've got a Cheetah that's a few years
old, and having pulled it out of another server (in the datecenter), I put
it in this box to zero it out for reuse... and the box refuses to see the
drive. *Nothing* in

Dell portability
Howdy,
I built an LXC container with an "image" of asterisk 11.18 precompiled
and installed. It runs fine on the dev platform, which is a Dell R320
running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I shutdown the container, tarred it up, and
untarred on a Dell PE1850, also running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. The container
itself is Ubuntu 14.04LTS. Both platforms as far as I know are amd64.
The container boots

test, and H/W
Hi, folks,
This is a test post; to make it of interest, here's an issue you might
want to be aware of, those with not brand new hardware. We've got a few
Dell PE R415s. A 2TB b/u drive on one was getting full, so I went to
replace it with a 3TB drive (a WD Red, not that it matters.) We got the
system in '11.
I built the drive - a GPT, 1 3TB partition, on an R320, from '12.

CentOS on HP DL360e with B120i
I am trying to install CentOS5 on a new HP DL360e G8 with B120i disk
controller. It appears that a proprietary HP driver is needed for it.
I found a useful description at http://www.linuxhelp.in/2013/08/Installing-centos-on-HP-Proliant-DL360e-Gen8-with-B120i-controller.html
I have a pair of hard drives to use as a RAID1 mirror.
My question to people who may have been this way already is: is it

Need more meetme users -- hitting some limit
I'm trying to determine the capacity of my host running Asterisk 11.8.1 on
CentOS 6.5.
The host is an Intel E3-1240v3 with 8GB RAM, an SSD, and gigabit Ethernet.
The primary application will be bridging groups of users using meetme().
I'm using 2 boxes -- 1 to initiate calls using call files (box1), and 1
behaving a bit more like a production box -- bridging calls (box2).

Re: P2V conversion failed with "/run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory"
Greetings Richard,
To add to the above information, we are following the understated steps:
1. We have 2 BL460c (Gen8) with Fedora 21 installed. Both the
machines(BL1 & BL2) have been updated with virt-v2v packages
2. On BL1, we execute the following commands:
1. virt-p2v-make-kickstart fedora
2. livecd-creator p2v.ks

P2V conversion failed with "/run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory"
Hi,
We are trying to do P2V conversion with virt-p2v.
we have conversion server (virt-p2v) and physical server (virt-p2v) server
configured as per below documentation.

After "Start Conversion" from GUI interface, we are conversion fails with

BAD disk I/O performance
Hello,
i'm trying to convert my physical web servers to a virtual guest. What i'm
experiencing is a poor disk i/o, compared to the physical counterpart
(having strace telling me that each write takes approximately 100 times the
time needed on physical).
Tested hardware is pretty good (HP Proliant 360p Gen8 with 2xSAS 15k rpm 48
Gb Ram).
The hypervisor part is a minimal Centos 6.5 with

We're going to need a bit more information about the hardware
in the physical server, like what 'RAID 0' means - hardware RAID?
What precise RAID controller
