NFSroot is acting strange in CentOS5
Hello all, I have observed a problem with a diskless PXE client I am attempting to configure. PXE/NFS/DHCP/TFTPd server is running CentOS5.1 and the Diskless workstation's root and kernel was extracted from a CentOS5.1 (custom kernel due to setting to enable Root File System support). Problem: When the diskless client boots and logs in I notice that my root user is being squashed, even if I

DNS in CentOS
Hello, Am running Bind 9 in Cent OS 5.1. I have a DNS server, that: - DNS server to hosts in lab.company.com - 192.168.17.x - forwards query to company.com - 10.100.x.x. Problem: 1. FQDN and by-IP-address ping and nslookup is successful. 2. ping/nslookup by host-name-only --- from any 192.168.17.x hosts to any 10.100.x.x hosts fail and vice versa. I have setup the DNS of lab.company.com

Network Installation of CentOS disk image via PXE
Hello all, I've deployed new servers - installing new CentOS servers via PXE booting using its iso distribution stored on an NFS server. For certain server types; I'd like to install custom applications into a server and then generate an image of that server, and deploy again via PXE to another group of servers. Wanted to find out if anyone can forward any pointers to papers or links

nfs4 problem in CENTOS6
Hi, This is slightly offtopic, but I have been trying to resolve that problem for two days now without much success. It looks like this may be something that works with CENTOS5, but not with CENTOS6! I have two machines, fileserver1 and server5. fileserver1 runs on CENTOS6 (virtualized, if this is important), server5 runs on Centos5. Both are running with the most recent updates. Server5 is a

vpopmail over NFS not seeing new messages.
Hi all. We've just migrated our back-end NFS mailstore from FC1 systems to CentOS4 and are experiencing problems/delays with vpopmail and user Maildirs. IMAP is fine, it's just POP access that causes us problems. Now, NFS mounts successfully, the clients can see /home/vpopmail and serve content as we would expect. IMAP works perfectly and sees new messages as soon as they're

Facter and arrays
Hi, Is it possible to have an array as the output of a custom fact? And then to pass it into a template in Puppet? I currently have a fact that looks like this: Facter.add("exports") do setcode do case Facter.hostname when (/thishost/i): [ "/local", "/local2" ] end end end & a template like this: <%

I used ocfs2 as file system, also I used NFS4 to access to the ocfs2 drive. I do not have any idea, but the allocated descriptors in /proc/sys/fs/file-nr increasing every time while drive accessed. So after some time allocated descriptions over

nfs (v3?) fails to allow writes and permission changes
Hi All, I have an nfs mount from my CentOS 5.3 client to a CentOS5.3 server. This has been functioning correctly for some years. Beginning last week I had problems saving OpenOffice documents onto the nfs mounted volume. OpenOffice just times out with a file io error. So I tried just a simple shell - cd to the mounted volume did a vi create of text file - no problems. tried a chmod +w on an

NFSv4 on CentOS 4.5
Hi. I'm having trouble accessing a shared directory over NFSv4 on a CentOS 4.5 machine. My export file reads /test 10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0(ro,async,insecure,nohide,no_subtree_check) Running the mount command with NFSv4 as the filesystem gives me a permission denied error. /etc/exports file and any machine mount
I used to have an exports file like the following on redhat 7.3... the would allow any machine to mount the /home/CentOS.iso directory. /var/spool/lpd (rw) /etc/silentm slave(ro,secure,no_all_squash,no_root_squash) /home/CentOS.iso (ro,secure,no_all_squash,no_root_squash) This does not seem to work on centos 4.2. I have to explicitly have a machine name like: /home/CentOS.iso

nfs root kerberos

I'm not able to use "root" on the client even though the nfs export specifies the option: no_root_squash option. I completely understand that in order to use the "root" identity (which doesn't exist as a user in the domain) on the NFS client, this identity has to

PXELinux Kernel NFS Root Errors
Hi This is a PXELinux problem that I'm facing. The problem, in brief, is that I have a set of diskless nodes (AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with 256MB RAM) connected via an internal 172.20.0.0/24 network to a dual AMD Opteron running SuSE Linux 8.3 for AMD64. I want the remote machines to diskless boot off the main server and run independently. The diskless machines have a PXE-compliant BIOS for

Just to clarify: All the LLVM incubator repositories have "enforce linear history" enabled. Neither "Squash and Merge" or "Rebase and Merge" results in a Merge commit in the git history.
