Dimensioning asterisk 11
I will be using a dell R320 Xeon E5-2420 2G and 4G RAM. also using a SIP trunk with ulaw/alaw codec. How many calls could I expect to make at the same time? no transcoding or anything. Just call a number and play a gsm file. Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Dell R320 server
Is there a way on Dell R320 (two power supplies and hardware RAID-1) on centos to get a message that a power supply is failing or that one of the hardware RAID disks is failing? Sure there is the front panel - but no-one is there ... Is that reported to linux/centos some way? This is my first R320. Thanks, Jerry

slow bootloader on Dell R320
Hi all ! Thanks for the very good support of Dell R320 hardware, perc H310 is well supported, BCM5720 seems to work correctly and performances are great. The only problem i have found is very strange. The FreeBSD bootloader take many times to load, 30sec-2minutes to boot the kernel and show the bootloader menu. After that, the system boots properly, at a normal speed. Is there any issue or

CentOS 6 and an SAS drive, hardware
This is... odd. Got a 6.8 box, a Dell R320 lspci tells me 01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2008 [Falcon] (rev 03) so it *should* accept an SAS drive. I've got a Cheetah that's a few years old, and having pulled it out of another server (in the datecenter), I put it in this box to zero it out for reuse... and the box refuses to see the drive. *Nothing* in

Dell portability
Howdy, I built an LXC container with an "image" of asterisk 11.18 precompiled and installed. It runs fine on the dev platform, which is a Dell R320 running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I shutdown the container, tarred it up, and untarred on a Dell PE1850, also running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. The container itself is Ubuntu 14.04LTS. Both platforms as far as I know are amd64. The container boots

dimensioning: Where is the CPU vs Asterisk load table
Hi, is there any good calculator/table/reference about proper dimensioning? I read the wiki and they basically say "xx users run fine in yy hardware" http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+dimensioning. SO far I read that: -Run up to 4 E1s per CPU (which one? an i386 or a dual core? -it is very CPU intensive to do transcoding. Try to minimize it. -you can help the CPU

Dimensioning a 50 sip phone installation
Hi, Some help with dimensioning the server will be gladly accepted. -50 sip phones (g729) or g711(to avoid transcoding) in LAN -an asterisk server (1.4) doing normal pbx functions + voicemail in the same LAN -Some sporadic conferencing with no more than 2 sip phones and maybe 2 or 3 calls coming from the E1 for a total of 5 people in a conference. The asterisk server will get an E1(pri) via one

RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan, I am running a Calling Card application on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7. Recording conversations I have seen on my server causes the processors to burn more than necessary so I would recommend what William from Signate recommended: " Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a separate server. It will be simpler to build a retrieval interface that does not

Conference bridge dimensioning
We are using an Asterisk box to do conferencing right now. I have had about sixteen active lines in conference and the quality was acceptable. We now have a need for 50 people to conference at one time. Does anyone have enough experience doing this to give me some pointers. Will it even be reasonable to try this? Is the mixing done on the the hardware, I plan on using a quad span t-1 card from

cisco dial-peer voip
I have 2610 XM with 1 Fastethernet and VIC2-2BRI. Dialin and dialout over pots is ok. Also inbound pots calls get redirected to Asterisk y.y.y.y So far so good. But I want to setup VOIP sessions with local carrier. I added dial-peer 40 for this. Session target x.x.x.x But calls will always get routed to the pstn peers 50 and 60. Peer x.x.x.x is never contacted or tried. My situation: PSTN

cisco AS5300 : problem configuration
I wouldn't expect you to be using RFC3389 if your using A-law, can you include your IOS version and IOS config file ... I have not specified any allow's or disallow's in my * config for the codecs with my 5300, I also use Cisco 79xx phones and I use the option within the phones config file to select the preffered codec and when I change this to G.729/A-law/U-law all works perfectly

How accurate is show translation?
Hi all, I'm using 'show translation' to help dimension my system, but I confused by the results I get. My 2 test systems (results below): an AthlonXP 2000+ (1.3GHz) and a Pentium D930 (duo-core, 3.0GHz) produced similar results (D930 is slightly faster). Googling shows that others have similar results running on other CPU speeds >2.0GHz. At first glance, it would look like the

test, and H/W
Hi, folks, This is a test post; to make it of interest, here's an issue you might want to be aware of, those with not brand new hardware. We've got a few Dell PE R415s. A 2TB b/u drive on one was getting full, so I went to replace it with a 3TB drive (a WD Red, not that it matters.) We got the system in '11. I built the drive - a GPT, 1 3TB partition, on an R320, from '12.

Asterisk 1.8 Dimensioning.
Hi Group, Is there any information available for Asterisk 1.8 dimensioning? I googled but couldn't find helpful data for 1.8. I am trying to figure out hardware configuration for following features implemented in Asterisk 1.8? (1)100 SIP clients. (2)ACD (Around 15 realtime queues) (3)Call recording for all SIP clients. (4)4 port PRI (E1). There would be around 100 concurrent calls.
