R 3.1.0 Beta installed but I'm not sure how
Hi All, I have installed R on Ubuntu 12.04 with apt pointed at my favorite mirror (http://cran.cnr.berkeley.edu/bin/linux/ubuntu precise/). Today, I ran an apt-get upgrade and now when I launch R, it tells me that I’m running R version 3.1.0 beta (2014-03-28 r65330) -- "Spring Dance”. I’m slightly confused as when I look at the package list in

How to use stable release in Ubuntu
Hi all, I am writing to you since I think I am experiencing a regression on the latest beta release, R version 3.1.0 beta (2014-03-28 r65330) -- "Spring Dance" .. Since I need to check for it before posting, I was searching for a method to revert to version 3.0.2 in Ubuntu, but I was unable to find it. Could you please give me some hints? Thanks ~ Francesco Brundu [[alternative HTML

Help with active directory integration
I have samba installed and joined to a Windows domain as a member server. I would like windows admins to be able to manage shares. I have followed the docs on samba.org and I am on the last step which is to run net rpc rights grant 'SAMDOM\Domain Admins' SeDiskOperatorPrivilege -U'SAMDOM\administrator' but it fails with an access denied error. So my question is: 1.What user

Rename Computer In Samba Domain: Access Is Denied
I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why trying to rename my computer joined to a Samba domain (version 3.2.3) keeps failing with "Access is Denied". In searching I found references to people with the same problem where the answer was to set the "rename user script" option in smb.conf, but I have done that (not forgetting to restart Samba) and there is no difference,

Ceph RBD locking for libvirt-managed LXC (someday) live migrations
Hi, I'm trying to build an active/active virtualization cluster using a Ceph RBD as backing for each libvirt-managed LXC. I know live migration for LXC isn't yet possible, but I'd like to build my infrastructure as if it were. That is, I would like to be sure proper locking is in place for live migrations to someday take place. In other words, I'm building things as if I were

temporary profiles problem - don't want roaming profiles
I have a Samba PDC (Ubuntu 12, OpenLDAP 2.4.28, Samba 3.6.3), and at two remote sites, I have some Samba BDCs. For now I've manually entered the DCs as WINS servers on the workstations I'm using for testing. At the remote sites, I can log in with an account that has no logon path or logon home specified, and it works perfectly. But at the main site, when I try to log on to one of these

Head's up: Renviron change in R_LIBS_USER to 3.1
Hi Here's a warning for you. If you start R today and it can't find any packages in your home directory that it did find yesterday, don't faint. You'll see something like this: > library(data.table) Error in library(data.table) : there is no package called 'data.table' and your user home folder R packages will no longer appear in path: > .libPaths() [1]

default profile
Hi, I installed a SaMBa PDC and a BDC. When I log in to an XP client with a new user, sometimes I get the initial profile settings from the netlogon share, but often from local. When I get the local default settings, it is not syncronized to the server at logout. Even if I get the new profile from the server, on the same client, next time, with a new user, I get the new profile from local. I

Ldapscripts v1.4 is out
Hello all, And now a small advert ;-) I'm pleased to announce the v 1.4 of the ldapscripts. The ldapscripts are shell scripts provided under the terms of the GPL license. They allow to manage POSIX accounts (users, groups, machines) in an LDAP directory. They can be used on GNU/Linux and FreeBSD (and any other Unix-like ?). They are similar to the smbldap-tools but are written in sh, not

Howto setup printing with Windows XP Clients, Cups and samba..
Hi there, slowly but sure I'm getting absolutely insane with the printer setup on a Samba PDC. I got Cups to work. It works like a charm if someone installs a printer via the cups interface. It also prints in a good quality. On Samba side I even have those "Printers and fax devices" in the visible shares. And if i install CUPS6 Drivers manual on the target system i can even print on

renaming a computer fail on a samba domain using ldap backend
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I am trying to rename a computer on my samba domain but it fails telling me I hadn't rights to do it. Obviously, I use the same admin account (root) than the one which add this computer on the domain some seconds before. I am using samba 3.0.24 on Debian etch with a openldap SAM backend and smbldap-tools scripts using these conf params :

%d empty string
I am trying to upgrade from dovecot 1.x to Dovecot 2.0.13 on Fedora. My problem is the mail_location setting seems to ignore the %d variable. My my location is as follows: mail_location = maildir:/var/spool/virtual_mail/%d/%u/Maildir However, when trying to log in the maillog says it can't find /var/spool/virtual_mail//*myusername*/Maildir/cur. As you can see it just uses an empty string

There are no currently logon servers available when mapping with "net use"
Hi people, I have a problem and I need so much of your help. I have a login script in \\server1\netlogon\script.bat (on my PDC and BDC) that runs "net use" commands to map some shares in time of the logon. This login tries to map share in another server (samba member of domain \\server2). So, I put the result at a log and appears these lines: " System error 1311 has occurred.
