Typo in src/extra/tzone/registryTZ.c
I stumbled upon a typo in a time zone name: Irtutsk should be Irkutsk. A patch is attached. I also checked that this is the only bug of its kind in this file, i.e., all the other Olson time zones occurring in the file can also be found in Unicode Common Locale Data Repository. - Mikko Korpela Index: src/extra/tzone/registryTZ.c ===================================================================

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
Please note that building R on Windows is documented in "R Installation and Administration", including links to external software. Particularly there is a link to texinfo which is part of Rtools. The documentation is maintained and it is a sufficient source of information for building R on Windows. https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-release/R-admin.html

How to set the time and timezone in Wine
Hi, I've installed a small clock app called Qlock into a Wine 1.0.1 installation on an Ubuntu 8.10 install. The app works fine except that it is showing GMT time! I wish to know if there is any way to set the clock in Wine so that apps use the correct timezone and time. I can't seem to find the TimeZoneInformation in the registry files. Cheers, Peter

utc
I''m having a helluva time getting Date.today.utc to resolve - "undefined method `utc'' for #<Date: 4908343/2,0,2299161>" model usage in before_create filter is : activated_at = Date.today.utc I''m not stubbing out Date (should I be? [ stub(Date, :utc => Date.today) didn''t help any ]. The before filter is working fine within the app, but

UTC vs local time
Hi list I always configure my systems to use our local time (in my case /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Zurich) and disable UTC. What are the differences between UTC and local time? What are their respective advantages and disadvantages? When to use UTC? cheers Simon -- XMPP: sjolle at swissjabber.org

Using UTC as the time zone?
I read in the rails recipes book that it is best to store times as UTC in the database. How do I do this? My server is located in GMT -6 CST. Do I need to change my server to use UTC or what? Created_at date/time if off by UTC-5 hours ?
Hello - My model has created_at and updated_at which get set automatically, as expected, but the time is 5 hours off. For example, if I create a new record at 7:15:25 AM the created_at time shows 12:15:25. I suspect this has to do with my time zone (Eastern Time, United States). But if I do a Time.now, it shows the correct time. Does the Timestamp class use a different zone than the Time

UTC timezone not available in RHEL4
Hi all, I have been using Red Hat for a very long time and run CentOS 4 on some of my production servers. One of the things that has bugged me for a long time is the fact in the Time Zone configuration there is not a selection for UTC or GMT. As a work around I have been linking the /etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/UTC which works, but when Yum auto updates to a new version it

Why does Time.now.utc? return false?
In my environment.rb file I have: ENV[''TZ''] = ''UTC'' When I go into the console I do this: >> t = Time.now => Mon Jan 21 07:40:25 +0000 2008 >> t.zone => "UTC" >> t.utc? => false Any idea why utc? is returning false when clearly the zone is UTC? Thanks for your help. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
