Samba4: Strange Behaveiour On Home share with 2 DC replicating /vfs glusterfs
There is a strange behaviour having two DCs joined in one Domain concerning the [home] share. The [home] is fixed on a replicating gluster volume on both DC. Now creating the users directory with ADUC ex.: \\s4master\home\%username% would do the necessary and the directory is created on both dcs. On the first DC all working fine without any issue but on the second the user cannot login their home

Slow Read Performance With Samba GlusterFS VFS
Hi, First I appreciate for you all, with your last week's points mentioned in the problem I meet with slow samba vfs write performance. Then I use fastcopy software to test windows clients write performance, it tells the same performance with iozone rewrite results, reach 450MB/s each client. Then I use the same smb.conf test read performance, it shows slow read performance compare with

VFS plug-in for Gluster breaks case sensitivity.
Hello, I first posted this question to the IRC but it was suggested I also post here for better visibility. I am currently having a bit of trouble with Gluster, Samba, and the VFS plug-in between them. I am also posting this to the Gluster mailing list. The behavior I am seeing is that by using the samba-vfs-gluster plug-in the case sensitivity setting for Samba breaks in a subtle but noticeable

shadow_copy and glusterfs not working
Hello, we are trying to configure a CTDB-Cluster with Glusterfs. We are using Samba 4.5 together with gluster 3.9. We set up a lvm2 thin-provisioned volume to use gluster-snapshots. Then we configured the first share without using shadow_copy2 and everything was working fine. Then we added the shadow_copy2 parameters, when we did a "smbclient" we got the following message: root at

SAMBA VFS module for GlusterFS crashes
Keep in mind a local disk is 3,6,12 Gbps but a network connection is typically 1Gbps. A local disk quad in raid 10 will outperform a 10G ethernet (especially using SAS drives). Permission Issue
Hi, just to keep you updated: The following trick seems to work for me: 1.) I stopped winbind on the cluster 2.) I deleted the cache: "net cash flush" Afterwards the result for "id testuser" was not quite the same like the result on the "old fileserver" 3.) I stopped the ctdb daemon 4.) I backuped /var/lib/samba/winbindd_cache.tdb on all nodes 5.) I restared

Hi, I don't have the user root. No changes :( Sometimes a user gets permissions, sometimes not. This net conf is now running: [global] ??? winbind refresh tickets = Yes ??? winbind use default domain = yes ??? template shell = /bin/bash ??? idmap config * : range = 1000000 - 1999999 ??? idmap config EXAMPLE : backend = rid ??? idmap config EXAMPLE : range = 500 - 200000 ??? hide dot files

Hi, yes, I did. I get the same results with "getent passwd testuser" on each node. /etc/ctdb/nodes and /etc/ctdb/public_addresses is exactly the same on each node On each node sernet-samba/stretch,now 99:4.9.12-15 amd64 is installed Yes, I read the documentation. It is strange, that another cluster in another office configured that way is working perfect ;( The load is not as high

Mapping subfolder of a samba share in Windows fails with access denied
Hi, I am trying to map a network drive on a Windows 7 client. It is possible to map the shared folder, but as soon as I try to map a subfolder, Windows shows an access denied message and prompts for another username and password. The user has full control over the subfolder (configured via the Windows security tab). The samba.log shows: Aug 22 10:25:19 FILESERVER smbd[5409]: Could not close

low samba performance with glusterfs backend
Hello folks, We test samba performance with local ext4 and glusterfs backends, it shows performance is very different. The samba server has 4 1Gbps NICs and bond with mode 6, backend storage is raid0 with 12 SAS disks. A LUN is created over all disks, make as EXT4 file system, and used as glusterfs brick. On the samba server, use dd test local ext4 and glusterfs, write bandwidth are 477MB/s and

does glusterfs implement vfs api ?
Hi, Does GlusterFS implement the Linux VFS functionality. I know its a user space FS, but user space FS should also implement VFS funtions. Is this true also to GlusterFS ? The way I like to think about it is GlusterFS implements the Linux FUSE API/ABI, which on Linux is integrated into the Linux VFS layer. For Macs
