how to install ash on CentOS 5.4?
Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to install ash on CentOS 5.4, or
just CentOS 5, for that matter? I'm trying to install OpenQRM which
requires ash, but ash doesn't exist in the repositories. rpmfind.net
als only has an older version listed, for CentOS 4

nut rpms for CenOS 4
Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know where to grab RPMs for nut? Or, at the very least, a
spec file that could be used to build a new one for CentOS 4?
I'd much rather use apcupsd, but the UPS in question is only supported
via nut.
Regards,
Ranbir

Problem updating ddclient
when I ran "sudo yum update" on my CentOS-7.2.1511 today,
ddclient was updated to ddclient-3.8.3-1.el7.noarch (from 3.7.3),
and ddclient.conf was moved to ddclient.conf.rpmsave .
When I move it back, "sudo systemctl restart ddclient"
fails with the error (in "sudo journalctl -xe | grep ddclient")

How to install libquicktime on CentOS 7 in one (or two) line of command?
Hi,
For some reason, I need support of QuickTime on my CentOS 7. So I
searched the internet and found that something called "|libquicktime|"
can provide that support. So I download the rpm file from
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libquicktime%28x86-64%29.
Then I ran command "|rpm -i libquicktime-1.2.4-31.el7.x86_64.rpm|" and
got the following errors:

Trying to update samba
I have a server running samba-3.0.9-1.3E.10. And I'm trying to update that so I
can now add windows 7 pcs to my network. The server is a Dell Poweredge 2850
running Red Hat Enterprise Linux EX release 3 (taroon update 8). It's also
running Webmin version 1.580. I wanted to download the update as an .rmp
thinking it would be easier and I would be able to run it from my webmin command

Anyone installed the amazon downloader on 5.1?
Just tried to install the Amazon-downloader on Centos 5.1 (the Fedora 8
version, which seems the closest match of any they offer).
Of course it gets a bazillion unfulfilled dependencies. so I tried
"yum localinstall ./a*m" and it trundles along for a while finding several
of the packages available then spews out this:
Error: Missing Dependency: libboost_date_time.so.3 is needed by

A potentially newbie question about vulnerability patching speed in CentOS 7.x's yum repository
I've been dubbing with management of security vulnerabilities and their fixes for a while, recently I discovered there may be a delay in the process of software updates made available on CentOS yum repository.
take CVE-2017-5335 for example:
In redhat official notice board :https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2017-5335 we can see there is a link point to advisory for RHEL 7:

Grub legacy on Centos 7
Hello Everyone,
We have centos6 server. And we are planning to upgrade it to Centos7.And
GRUB 2 needs a new bios grub partition. Creating a new partition is too
much risky. I am wondering if it is possible to replace Grub2 with Grub
legacy on Centos7 machine?
Thanks!!
