how to define new folders ACL
Hi folks, I've a working samba 4.1 DC + a 4.1 member server, winbind and UID GID working I have all the shares on member server, and the UNIX permissions are set to 770 Administrator:DomainUsers. To rule other permissions I generally use the Security TAB ACLs. my problem is: when a user create a new subfolder only he can access to it (and no other from DomainUsers), unless I change the

Samba DC on CentOS7
Hi guys, Just installed a CentOS 7 minimal to test samba 4.1.x that's onboard (until now I always used CentOS 6 + SerNet repo and working like a charm). But I'm looking to setup a new server and I wanted to use the CentOS packages to keep things as standard as possible. so I ran yum install samba-dc and it installed samba-common and the other dependecies. now... Samba4 joning Windows 2012 Foundation
Dear all, when joining Windows Server 2012 Foundation to samba 4.1 there is an error: The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller. Is there a way to extend samba4 to avoid this error? Samba 4 Domain Member fileserver permission denied error
Hi there, I have a working Samba 4 domain (4.1.5) with several DC's spread over a global network. They are all based on Ubuntu 12.04. At present the domain member fileservers for this network are all running Samba 3.4.7 and using NSLCD and *nix permissions to allow access. This is working nicely. I am now trying to create a new Samba 4 (4.1.7 Ubuntu 12.04) domain member fileserver and have

software deployment
Hi, Just wondering: What are you guys using to deploy software on your windows (7) workstations within the samba4 AD? These are options I know of: * wpkg (but it seems it's development is not too active) * wpkg-gp using the group policies * www.opsi.org (Client Management System for Windows clients) * standard windows software deployment, but I think that's msi-only This page also has

Samba4 - Printer Drivers install fails
Hi, I have a question about printer drivers management in Samba4 (Samba version 4.7.6, Ubuntu 18) I use MMC to add new drivers to an existing cups printers, and some of them are simply refused. I know the samba4/cups server is operationnal as i'm able to add new printers or drivers to it through MMC. I guess it's not a permission problem on the server as i perform the operation as

Please share your mail setup with me if you are running samba4
Hi Guys, I had no luck so far getting openchange installed onto samba 4.1.4 and wondered if I am on the right track here regarding emails for users. wbinfo -u/-g does not query AD DC
I'm setting up a domain member (Debian Wheezy, Samba 3.6.6) to join an AD DC (Wheezy backports, Samba 4.1.9). Everything looks good so far, in particular the checklist (http://linuxcostablanca.blogspot.com.es/2014/06/samba4-winbind-desperation.html) up to number 7 is okay. I also removed nscd. I can do "kinit user" and I can query the samba LDAP to see domain users. I did a

samba4 winbind desperation
Hi everyone, and especially the on-list plain English rfc2307 winbind advisers. In an effort to save the aforementioned a lot of time, energy and frustration, we have put together a check-list to which we can refer candidates on those rare occasions when they are having problems with winbind. We hope you like them and that they will serve us all to a greater or lesser degree.
