DNS Update Error
Hello List, in the following environment SUSE Linux Enterprise 11SP3 with bind 9.9.4P2 and the Sernet samba packages in version 4.1.7. samba works as AD PDC. Every few days our bind dns server denies updates. It looks like a problem with kerberos and the bind_dlz driver: Jul 2 08:04:21 s4ad named[22579]: samba_dlz: starting transaction on zone baettenhausen.local Jul 2 08:04:21 s4ad

Samba AD changing a user's password as non-root user
Hi! I'm using Samba in an AD setup, (version 4.2.0) and I'm looking for a way to change the password of a user from the command line, as a non-root user. I know I can use 'smbpasswd', 'samba-tool user setpassword', or 'samba-tool user password', but these all seem to require root privileges. When I run them as root, they work, but when I run them as non-root

NT_STATUS_TOO_MANY_OPENED_FILES on AD DCs
Hello guys Yesterday afternoon kerberos stopped working on both of our domain controllers. Unfortunately, I did not have time to examine it thoroughly, I needed to have it up asap. I know that RDP authentication took a few minutes, but it ended up being logged. LDAP was normally working. There were a lot of these messages in the logs: [2018/04/22 14:46:43.315705, 1]

Samba4 bind DNS
Hello, one of my S4 ADs shows a strange behavior. The Server is a stand-alone ad controller with bind (bind_dlz) as dns-server. The Samba Version is 4.1.2 running on SLES11 SP3. If i add a new A-record with the DNS-Tool from the Microsoft remote-server-tools an check the box "verkn?pften PTR-Eintrag erstellen", it creates the A-Record, but not the pointer-record. If i join the

Problem with adding an Samba Member Server to a Samba AD Domain
Hi List, I found some threads here in the list with similar problems, but nothing helped to solve my problem. We have a very much to old Samba DC (Version 4.1.x) and a new Samba 4.5.6 which should act as a member server. The first problem we had during joining the domain: "net ads join -k" didn't work. The Error Message said: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info

Hi, We upgraded from Samba version 4.15.9 to 4.18.1 on last Saturday. We are running AD-DC Service. Of 5 server, there are no issues. 2 of them experiencing slowness and in the logs we are seeing

details of HTTP Basic auth for icecast2
Hi, A question for the HTTP Basic auth for icecast2: what is the username to use when doing such authentication. The related line in the login is: Authorization: Basic <base64 encoded string> where the <base64 encoded string> in its original form is: username:password now, what username is used? in the config file for the icecast2 server, one can only set the password (except

Creating sub actions
Hi, So finally I have also decided to roll my engines on Rails. But I am kind of stuck in a situation. I understand that for every model there is a controller class. This controller class has cirtain set of methods where each method defines cirtain action to be performed. And each of this action renders cirtain UI. [The background] Now let say I have a object "Car". Apart from

Michael Smith wrote: > Currently, "source". Other suggestions welcome. I see. I guess the current working semantics don't need anything more complicated. If the need rises to provide more complex access control, userid / password pairs could be defined in the icecast config file. e.g.: user1 / password1 allowed to connect as source /source1* user2 / password2 allowed to

Formula that includes previous row values
Hi R users, Is there an easy way in R to generate the results table below using table 1 and the formula (simplified version of the real problem)? It would be easy if I knew the R equivalent of SAS's retain function, but could not find one. Thanks in Advance for any help! table1: ID X2 X3 1.00 1.00 0 2.00 0.00 3.00 1.00 4.00 3058 5.00 0.00 6.00 6.00 Formula: X3 = x2 + (.24 *

IPC$ service
We use samba purely as for file serving from Solaris 7 or 8 servers. THE PDC and BDCs are NT machines. We have been using Samba 2.0.7, but used 2.2.5 for a new server. One noticeable difference is that smbstatus lists a number of entries "IPC$ nobody nobody" which we did not see in 2.0.7. Is this normal in 2.2.5 or something I should be ivestigating? Eg trout# smbstatus

Issue on DEBUG statement
Hi, I was running samba-4.1.4 successfully on my fedora till the below issue occurs. I had put some simple DEBUG statements in "lib/util/debug.c" (reopen_logs_internal() and some other funcs) file to understand the logging mechanism. And the same is compiled fine without any issues. And I started my samba service(both nmbd and smbd), I got "(core dumped) segmentation fault"

Why smbd (version 4.1.0) uses source3/smbd/server.c not source4/smbd/server.c
Dear everybody, Could anybody told me the reason? Does the code of samba 3 and samba 4 mix together in the master branch. How can I let smbd be compiled from source4/smbd/server.c? Thanks and Have a good weekend Jun The following is what I got from the command line: junyij-2.desktop$ ./smbd [2012/09/28 17:36:18, 0] ../lib/util/debug.c:592(reopen_logs_internal) Unable to open new log file
