Incorrect GSSAPI Service Name for POP3
In pop3-login/client-authenticate.c, when sasl_server_auth_begin() is
called, it does so with the service name of "POP3". GSSAPI uses this
service name when obtaining its service credentials. The problem is
that according to http://www.iana.org/assignments/gssapi-service-names ,
the service name should instead be simply "pop". This causes GSSAPI
authentication to fail when

Kerberos GSSAPI - proper item name in keytab
Hello, ALL.
I am trying to organize a transparent single sign-on concept for my
Active Directory users into Dovecot via IMAP. On the user's desktop I
use Thunderbird 6.0 as a mail client (MUA), Windows XP as an operating
system. Domain is controlled by Windows 2008 Server SP2 with Active
Directory.
I have installed on my Mail server Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.2 (Squeeze) and

gssapi auth issue...
Hi all-- been away from the list for a few weeks so forgive me
if this problem has been reported-- with the help of some
of our Kerberos engineers, we tracked down why we can't
authenticate our Solaris kerberos clients to Dovecot.
Here's the deal: Our IT organization issued us kerberos tickets of the form
imap at foobar.sfbay.sun.com
Which I presume is their standard-- and

prerequisites for winbind (Samba-3.0.4-SuSE-9.0)
Hi there,
I'm not able to get winbind to work, although searched google and studied
and tried nearly every howto
and forum entry on the net the last week.... it simply doesn't work and I don't understand
why....
My Samba3-Domain SUPZ (samba & ldap Linux PDC, Windows Clients) works
perfektly
with all ldap users, groups (linux and from windows) and computer accounts
(Win2000 WS).

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
I managed to do migration using "classicupgrade".
Doing tests with debian buster 2:4.9.4+dfsg-4.
For the moment using samba internal dns and sub-domain of ad.advocap.org.
Had issue forwarding dns if I used main domain.
When it comes to real production will use bind that I understand better
but don't want to mess with my other dns servers now.
Had a w10 box join samba4 ad

''Code table'' best practices?
I''ve been going back and forth about this kind of thing for a while.
I reverse my opinion on it every project, and I''m wondering if anyone
has any advice/battle scars to share. As usual, please forgive my
long-windedness in advance.
Let''s say I have this:

Hello,
I''m blocking/limiting succesfully all P2P activity on our corporate

That is, until now. For my colleagues have found a new p2p client to
wreck havoc on our DSL line: ARES/WAREZ It seems to be a gnuttela
clone, but different enouph for ipp2p not to identify it.
I played around a bit with tcpflow with no success of finding

Auth problems against Eudora
Hi,
I'm trying to set up dovecot to do pop3 from Eudora, but it keeps breaking
on authentication attempts using plain auth. When I snoop the connection

SAML | Input buffer full (no auth attempts in 0 secs)
Hi,
In my journey to enable SAML auth for our webmail (sogo.nu) I have
created a password-less dovecot imap listener on 127.0.0.1/32, so that
once a user is SAML authenticated for the SOGo webmail, SOGo can connect
to dovecot on 127.0.0.1:143 with something like "01 LOGIN username
randompassword".
Watching this (tcpflow) as it happens,i can see the following auth
attempt coming from

URL authentication
The icecast server isn't on a Mac, it just connects to a Mac for the
authentication. Icecast is running on a Debian machine. And packet
sniffing shows very clearly no packets leaving the icecast server.

URL authentication
Does your instance of icecast have CURL support compiled in? Without it
authentication doesn't work I think. Furthermore, if you're running
icecast in a chroot jail then you need to make sure the curl shared
libraries are installed in the chroot jail as well.

KJ
