MySQL Update from exten
I've tried every combination I could find on the net and so far there is
no joy
The thing is I can do this update from the command line: Maybe some new
eyes might find the answer?

exten => update,n,MYSQL(QUERY resultid ${connid} UPDATE\ caller\ SET\

Asterisk 1.0.2 - Unable to allocate channel structure
Hi,
This morning I had some failed calls. On the console (and in the log)
I saw the error "Unable to allocate channel structure". Before I restarted
the process, I checked it's memory usage in ps and glanced at my free
memory in top. Asterisk was using a normal ammount of memory, about
40M. I don't think this was a system limit. This was running Asterisk
v1.0.2. Below is

Fw: W2KSP4 Problem
I was having a problem with my Samba PDC with LDAP backend.
Some of my workstations (W2kSP4) couln't log into the domain. I removed the machines from the domain, changed the name, created a new
machine-account, but I still can't add the machine to the domain.
smbclient -L localhost

samba w/o openvpn: OK - else strange issues
Hello,
I do have a very strange behavior. For some reason, I only observe
this, when I access a samba share through an openvpn tunnel.
(1) objective
have a share, have SECURITY USERS (to control access rights), but NULL
PASSWORDS (authentication is fine enough by vpn). Find config files
below.
This is samba 3.3.2. Openvpn 2.1_rc11.
(2) issue
I connect via vpn from winXP ... fine
I access

samba 3.0.14a works with ldapsam backend but not 3.5.10-125.el6
we are migrating our standalone Samba sever (3.0.14a) on a Solaris 10 box to
an RHEL 6.3 box.
Testing shows that on Solaris 3.0.14a works with both the OpenLDAP server
we are currently using and the IPA2.2 server as LDAP backend. But 3.5.10-125.el6
on a RHEL 6.3 box does not work with either.
I can still map a share with 3.5 as owner of the shared directory, but secondary
group ownership does

user authentication issue
Hey Jeremy,
Thanks for the advice. I followed your suggestion collected the logged
information for a single connection attempt (i.e. smbclient
//servername/sharename -U username); I've included the log data below (in
the postscript). It looks like Samba is still looking for a Unix user
account and not finding one. I should mention that it seems that I am able
to authenticate as the user; the

Samba 3.6 File server with W2k3 DC
Hi,
I've been fighting against a file server with samba 3.6.9-151.el6
authenticating from a windows 2003 server. I've read a thousand posts
and howtos with all kind of samba versions without success.
It looks like windbind is not processing things right. I've set the unix
permissions on the folder to CANAL4\graficos right and the parent folder
is world readable so this should not be

samba3x PDC and Win XP
I am at my wits end on this one. Ever since I upgraded to samba3x
(present version 3.5.10-0.110.el5_8) in preparation for adding a Win 7
client, my WinXP client can no longer find their roaming profiles nor
can they assign their home shares to a drive at login. Logins and
authentication work just fine and I can see the home and profile shares
from the Win XP client after login. My smb.conf

smbd not talking to winbindd?
Hello,
I'm running a compiled-from-source instance of Samba 3.4.5 on RHEL AS 4u2,
and am having some flakiness with AD-Unix mappings. We're talking to a
Windows 2008R2 server, with AD in "2003 mode" I believe.
What the issue appears to be is that smbd does not seem to want to talk
with winbindd. One moment my account worked:

Using +<group> in "valid users" is not working
Hello to all,
I have recently upgraded to SAMBA 3.4.2 on Solaris 10, and reconfigured it to use domain authentication (security = domain). We slapped guest authentication on most shares, with an explicit "valid users = ...." on a small number of sensitive shares. Due to the number of users we were looking at, we set up two UNIX groups "payroll" and "payoff" and

Having problem with "valid users" in Active Directory/Samba environment
We have a Ubuntu/Samba setup to serve Windows-XP users using Active Directory credentials.
The application is a backup service using rsync from their workstations to the server.
Ubuntu: 9.10, Samba: 3.4.0.
The backups work fine, and individual users logged onto XP with AD credentials can see the contents of their shares on the server.
However, we have been unable to configure Samba to allow

Samba clients losing domain membership
Hello,
we are currently in the process of migrating Windows machines to Ubuntu
10.04. For now, these machines act as samba clients in a Windows domain
(which is controlled also by a samba PDC), and are itself sharing files
via SMB/CIFS. The clients are - from time to time and with no apparent
reason - losing their domain membership. When this happens, access to
shares on the PDC still seems to

Using NetWkstaGetInfo / NetWkstaUserEnum with samba server
Hi,
I'm trying to get a Linux machine set up so that it will respond to
NetWkstaGetInfo and/or NetWkstaUserEnum NetAPI requests from a Windows
machine. I have samba configured and working to authenticate in the
Windows domain with smb, nmb and winbind daemons running, and can browse
shares on that machine from a Window PC, authenticating as either the
domain administrator or a domain user.

Samba3.5 + OpenLDAP config/install problem
System Summary:
centos 6.2
samba 3.5
smbldap-tools 0.9.6
openldap 2.4.23
Hello,
I am installing smb 3.5 on a CentOS 6.2 host using smbldap-tools. I've
previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4 using smb 3.0 but
CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the
configurations cannot be moved straight across.
Currently, when I attempt to connect to an smb share

user authentication issue
Hey Samba list,
First a brief comment regarding my background and situation. This is my
first time posting to this list. I've been asked to resolve a Samba
authentication issue, but I have next to no experience using Samba.
Unfortunately no one else here knows how to use it either; we're operating
with an inherited environment from a sysadmin who left minimal
documentation, and we have

Hey Rowland,
Thanks for the advice. The host is running Ubuntu 12.04 and I've included
the smb.conf below (reverted it to its "original" state prior to following
Jeremy's advice). I don't suppose you know why the user is able obtain a
list of Samba services (i.e. smbclient -L host -U user) if they aren't
known to Samba? I find that confusing.

Solaris 10 and Samba 3.2 - internal error
Greetings,
Before I get to far digging I was wondering if anyone else was seeing
problems with Samba 3.2 on Solaris 10 (Sparc.) I built Samba with gcc
3.4.3.
Clients are denied access to server resources and I'm seeing the
following in the logs:

register_existing_vuid: UNIX uid 10000 is UNIX user CSUNET\1001362,
