Samba4 LDAP ACLs - access to POSIX attributes from a non-admin account
In our current testing environment, we are using nslcd to get user and
group information from the Samba4 LDAP server, using the last part of
objectSid as uidNumber. The configuration is designed to pull down
unixHomeDirectory and loginShell if they exist, but they default to
standard values if they do not. nslcd on each machine binds to LDAP
using a dedicated user account, nslcd-service, and

Samba4 Winbind - is it really not possible to be sensible?
Samba3 allowed for the setting of idmaps and passdb backends to
configure how users were pulled in. This made integrating with existing
LDAP databases, other other forms of authentication easy, since Samba
could be configured to present the same UID and GID as directly from the
[insert other auth method here] system. All was good.
Unfortunately Samba4 seems to have removed much of that

Question about drives
I am setting up wine for use with students in a school.
So far it works as a generic system in /usr/share/windowsapps/.wine
When the student logs in they get a sym-link created in their area that
points to this....all is working fine....
But when they go to save in say Microsoft Word, they get access to the whole
.wine folder by following the sym-links. I know that these are coming from

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX
Hi,
I hope this is the correct mailing list to send to.
Basically I have just put in a full Linux computer suite in the school
I work at. The problem is they need the Macromedia Suite for their 6th
form students.
As I couldn't get MX2004 to work at all I have 'downgraded' to MX.
Fireworks, Freehand and Flash MX all work perfectly! But...
Dreamweaver does not. What happens is I run

Samba4 acting as standalone server, smb.conf parameters and run daemons !
I have built Samba4 4.1.5 from sources and provisioned as standalone
server. I don' t need to act Samba4 as DC.
I need fully working server, including shares access, network neighborhood
browsing, LDAP (I suupose it should be anyway by default) .
What values should be added to smb.conf, in particular to server services ?
Is dcerpc endpoint servers parameter necassary ?
