BIND 9.9 setup with samba
Hi, I ran into some trouble last night when setting up samba (4.1.5) with bind 9.9 as the backend. I followed the instructions on the wiki but found that the apparmor settings that are suggested don't actually work (at least for me running Ubuntu 13.10). Just putting it here for others that may experience the same issue and to check that I haven't done something silly. If what I've

iscsi storage creation
Hi, I have set up a 40GB iscsi target on my san and when I add it in to the storage pool and it shows up as 40GB. When I try to create a 40GB volume in the ovirt UI it tries to but fails. The error message is that the volume will not fit. If I create one smaller than 40GB it works. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, if I then start a virtual machine up to install on the newly

yum update broke ovirt
I did a yum update on my management server and now the ovirt gui is no longer accessable. Is it supposed to just work or do I need to do something after the yum update? Justin.

build instructions
Are the build instructions out of date? I've been following them but when I get to "make update-app" I get make: *** No rule to make target `update-app'. Stop. I took a look in the Makefile and sure enough there's no updated-app target or update-host for that matter... What's the procedure now? Cheers, Justin.

node servers show as unavailable after reboot of management server
Hi, I had to reboot my management server today and when it comes back up the node machine has a status of "unavailable (enabled)". I saw this the last time I rebooted the management server and rebooting the node fixed the problem. What is the expected behaviour in this instance? My expectation would be that when the management server is reset, the nodes keep running (which they

poweroff in vm causes the host to become unavailable
If I ssh to a vm running Centos and then execute "poweroff" from within the vm, the vm shuts down as expected but the host in the admin ui becomes unavailable. Is anyone else experiencing this? I haven't checked to see if other guest OS's do the same thing yet. The painful thing is that then I have to shutdown all the VMs and reboot both the host and the management server

only seeing one NIC in network device editor
Hi, When I click on "Edit Network" on my managed node in the hosts tab of the oVirt UI I only see one NIC. My managed node has 2 NICs, one on the guest network and one on the admin network. The NIC on the admin network is not listed in the network editor. Is this normal? I'm trying to create a VM and boot the cobbler profile I created for Fedora 10 but I can only boot the VM

Samba AD replication on new installation of Samba 4.0
Hi, Fantastic that Samba 4.0 has been released, I've just installed and joined it to an existing AD (single Win2k8R2 server running Exchange). The installation seemed to go well but I'm seeing odd messages when I show the replication status on both the Samba server and the Win2k8R2 server. Is there something I missed in the install? I followed the instructions outlined at

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
> I wonder if this has the same cause as this bug: > https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11351 Well, I already came across this bug report as my GPMC shows the same error on "Status" tab of the domain. Though I didn't join ainy Windows domain controller to the Samba domain. I am running GPMC on my local Windows 10 Pro machine joined to the domain. It shows "No

Missing features in RSAT Group Policy Manager (Debian as Samba PDC)
I have been testing a Debian 11 (i386) server with samba 2:4.13.13+dfsg-1~deb11u5 running as an Active Directory Controller. This is a stand-alone DC, meant for user authentication for a small business network. I use RSAT Features on Windows 11 Pro to manage Users, Groups, Machines etc., which works fine. I would like create a new GPO using the RSAT Group Policy Manager to change Security

RSAT Print Management won't show shared printers under the "Printers" section
A small update: Fiddled some more with Windows 10 and that works, too. Windows 7 still doesn't see the printer in Print Management, not even on a second, freshly installed client. I have set up the printer now from Windows 8.1 and configured some printer preferences and installed the printer on a Windows 7 client. That works. However, I would really like to configure the printer form Windows

node becomes "unavailable"
After running for a while the node becomes "unavailable" in the server UI. All VMs running on that node also become unavailable. The node is still running fine as are all the VMs, they're just no longer manageable. I looked on the node and everything appeared to be running fine. Looked on the server and ovirt-taskomatic was stopped (this seems to happen quite a bit).

iSCSI and disk timeouts
Hi, I'm having a problem where one of the VM's I'm running appears to be hanging. I think what might be happening is that the disk is timing out and being mounted read-only (or something like that). The VM image is on an iSCSI volume. What timeouts are set for iSCSI on the node? I seem to recall it being either 30 seconds or 2 minutes but I haven't been able to confirm.

Jumbo frame support on nodes
On the network theme again. The adapters on the management/storage network all default to an mtu of 1500. Are there plans to be able to indicate when a network supports jumbo frames? Cheers, Justin.

Out of memory causes VM shutdown
I created a new VM today and it ran for a while before mysteriously disappearing. I logged in to the node it was running on to take a look at the logs and it looks as though the VM was shut down because the node ran out of memory. This particular node has 8GB in it and was running 4 VMs (including the crashed one). The memory assigned to each VM was 4G, 1.5G, 512M, 256M. It was the 256M VM

Stereo speex on Blackfin
Hi, I'm trying to encode a stereo speex file on the blackfin without much luck. This is a standalone application with no OS using the speex library provided in the blackfin multimedia sdk. I believe this library was ported to run using Visual DSP++ by Jean-Marc (may be wrong). I have mono encoding working fine, to add stereo encoding I just added a call to speex_encode_stereo_int()
