SMBD not authenticating against Active Directory
Hi, Iam trying to setup Samba version 3.2.3 on Redhat (RHEL5) server to use Active Directory for authentication. I followed the instructions from article in following website: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/magazine/dd228986.aspx Setup Winbind + Samba + Kerberos and it seems to work fine. I can see the users in Active Directory through winbind as well as authenticate users using NTLM

20 second delays when accessing Samba on Fedora 11
I had samba running fine on a Fedora 6 machine. I've upgraded to Fedora 11 and I'm getting huge delays when first accessing a folder. With Fedora 11 I'm ussing samba-3.3.2-0.33.fc11.i586. I'm getting about 60+ second delays before being requested to enter my username/password. I've used WireShark and can see 1) Session Setup AndX Request, NTLMSSP_NEGOTIATE 2) 20 seconds

Slow Session Setup AndX
We are experiencing some slowness when opening files from a Samba file share using Microsoft Word 2003. Upon examination with Ethereal it became apparent that Session Setup AndX calls are taking a long time to complete, varying from 2 to 8 seconds between the time the client provides an NTLMSSP_AUTH and the server responds. I have also noticed a peculiar NetBIOS name query for

Samba 4.0.7 doesn't work with Russian credentials
Sorry about the lack of info. So in the wireshark trace, our printer smbclient 4.0.7 sends a Unicode value in Russian of ???? with a password of ????123. The server rejects the login attempt with STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. The second attempt is with the linux version smbclient 4.0.7, and the same credentials to the same server work. The only thing I see different in the requests are the flags sent:

Cannot authenticate as guest to domain-joined Samba 4.7.0 fileserver when map untrusted to domain = auto
Hello, I just upgraded Samba on a fileserver from 4.6.8 to 4.7.0; this fileserver is joined to a Samba4 AD Domain. I have configured the following options to allow guest access to a share: [global] guest account = nobody map to guest = Bad User [Share] guest ok = yes When attempting to connect from a local account on a Windows 7 client (the client is joined to the domain but the

Can't browse network using nautilus
Hi, I'n using the nautilus file browser in a GNOME desktop environment on a FC2 system. If I enter smb:/// in the location bar in nautilus I can see the network but whenever I try to look at the shares on a computer I get a message saying that I do not have permissions to view the contents. I looked in the archives and found a thread on a similar problem. This thread mentioned that

Help! Samba 3.0 can't use null password with OS X
When I made the move to 3.0, I noticed that smbclient no longer works with null passwords. Am I missing something? I read the FAQ, which suggests that the server is rejecting the null password. But I know that null passwords work fine for the 2.2.8a client, so the server is not the issue. The FAQ recommends "smbclient -L host -U%", but I don't want to set the username to null. I

Fileshares failing
Hi, I used to have a set of samba shares working fine on a Centos 4 machine, accessed by XP clients and authenticated against a 2003 SBS server. Then I did a yum upgrade and a week later noticed that the seldom-used SMB shares have stopped working. No other changes to the Centos server, and no domain changes. The XP clients now just keep prompting for authentication. A wireshark trap shows

Samba 3.2.7 and XP authentication error
List, Long and confusing message follows... I'm facing a frustrating problem. XP clients can use resoures on the samba server by IP-address, but not by name. So, "net view \\servername" gives "access denied" but "net view \\ipaddress" gives list of shared resources. Samba server (3.2.7 sernet rpm) is a member server in W2003 domain. I emphasise that with
