Failure to move object from one site to another
Hi There, We use samba4 for a while now and i've always been able to move a machine from the default-first-site-name to a newly created site but since the recent version (sadly i don't now exactly which) but for sure with 4.0.13, 4.1.3 and 4.1.4 that became impossible. Resulting in a crashing AD Sites and Services application and a crash in samba4 (need to restart samba4 to be able to

Regular users can't log in to Samba AD DC from Windows
Hi, I continue setting up my FreeBSD 11.0 machine with Samba 4.4.9 built from sources. (Actually, OS type and Samba version don't matter so much, as I have the same problem with Debian Jessie and Samba 4.5.5) I followed the Wiki very close. Some details from provisioning: ... Realm [RW.LAN]: Domain [RW]: Server Role (dc, member, standalone) [dc]: DNS backend (SAMBA_INTERNAL,

strange: 20 characters max in samAccountName
Hi all, Sernet Samba 4.2.2 as Active Directory on Debian 7.8. No other DC. I can't log in with on Windows systems (Windows 7) when samAccountName are longer than 20 characters. This seems to be a LAN MAN or NT4 limitation which should not happen on AD domain. Any idea what could leads my to that limitation? I can log in using administrator account or any other having a short (enough)

The RPC server is unavailable on Samba 4 clients
Hi, I used to upgrade/migrated samba 3.3.10 to samba 3.4.17 with LDAP backend in place, while upgrading the CentOS from 5.5 to 5.9. In place to retain the trust relationship. The users can able to login without re-authentication from existing machines. Tested 3 XPs, and 3 Win7 but it takes 5-8 mins to login compared to 1 win7 that was re-connected (disconnected from domain, restart, then rejoin

Unable to "rejoin" existing DC after upgrade (infamous WERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
Hi. As happened some weeks ago, here I am again updating an old Samba 4.14.x network to a current version. The server hosting the FSMO roles is a Debian10 with 4.14.14, while the third node is a Ubuntu 18 running LinuxSchools build 4.14.8. We started from a Ubuntu 20.04 server running Louis builds. We demoted the node and joined it back to the domain with 4.17.5 from Michael. Although on the

Running SQL Server xp_logininfo with Samba PDC
We have setup Samba 4.1 as a PDC. We have successfully connected several Windows 2008 Servers to the domain and created various users/groups. During an application installation on the Windows server, it runs the command in SQL server: master..xp_logininfo 'MYDOMAIN\useraccount' SQLserver is running as a service user created on the domain (here called MYDOMAIN) This returns: Msg

User accounts being blocked
Are you using the "samba-tool domain passwordsettings" command to set the lockout policy, or are you using group policy? -James Crouch On Aug 19, 2016 2:03 PM, "Ricardo Pardim Claus" <ricardo.claus at yahoo.com.br> wrote: > > > Dear James, > Thanks for the input. > > Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and > lock

User accounts being blocked
Dear James, Thanks for the input. Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and lock the account (after changing, I wheeled a gpupdate / force), if you miss 3 times the account is locked. I changed smb.conf log level to 9. I tried to unlock the account using the samba-tool command line, but without success, because I can only unlock using the RSAT. I get these

Winbindd segfaults with bind9-dlz trying to login via libwinbind-pam
Hello, I just found and odd behaviour here on my test environment (debian jessie with samba 4.4.5 backported from sid). I create and ad-dc as usual, adjust nsswitch.conf and enable pam-auth-winbind (ruuning pam-auth-update). I also define /bin/bash as template shell. Now after i create an samba-user and the users home directory (/home/DOMAIN/achim). I can login with that account on the

Samba4 Directory Replication
I?ve been trying to get replication working on Samba4 for a couple of weeks, with no success. I?ve tried the latest rsync?s, and today?s failure was using the Alpha9. I?m running on 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10 server, fully patched. I?ve tried to replicate the procedure as set forth by Tridge here: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2009-September/066753.htm l My test network is

Migrating kerberos KDC data into Samba4 internal KDC
Is there a mechanism migrate/import user principal information from an MIT KDC into a Samba4 internal KDC? We currently run our Active Directory users with Account Mappings that utilize a cross-realm trust between our MIT KDC (where user principals are maintained) and the Active Directory domain, as documented at *http://tinyurl.com/bx9znca* This works fine for our Windows clients, but it

unable to join to a Samba4 domain
I'm trying to join a Windows 2008 to a Samba4 domain. I'm able to ping Samba4 or browse its network shares. Unfortunately, I can't join Windows 2008 to this Samba4 domain - I'm not even asked for Administrator password. Windows 2008 errors with the below message, which roughly translates to: DSN-query for domain "samba4.my.domain" was successful. The query was for

User accounts being blocked
Dear, I've been noticing that constantly, some user accounts has been repeatedly blocked. We use DC Samba 4.4.5. Here we have a blocking policy, if the wrong password is entered more than 5 times. But most users say they do not screwed up the password. They perform the log at the beginning of working hours. After a while, they block the session and when they try to log on again, the

Joining KDC and ADS Domain
Hi All, To join an ADS based domain we need to join the realm first (kinit ...) and then join the domain (net ads join .....) Is it possible to do it without specifying user name and password (perhaps some other shared secret)? For instance, if a machine was already added in the domain server we may not need to specify user name and password when issuing the net command. Is it possible on the

samba_dnsupdate utility cannot contact KDC realm
I am in the process of trying to setup a Samba 4.0.6 AD DC on Fedora 18, but dnsupdate is not updating the DNS records since I changed the addresses that I have assigned to my NICs. At first I thought the internal server didn't want to work, so I tried getting things setup with Bind (which is working just not with Samba yet). I am wanting to replace our Windows Server 2003 with RHEL 7 (or

Samba4 KDC configuration
Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out how samba4 is working (will work) and have a couple of questions... I know its not a stable version yet where everything is in place, but I?m just curious of how the final samba4 will look like... How do you change encryption type for tickets, is there a hidden krb5.confsomewhere ? Is it possible to use aes encryption with samba4 (or will it be) ? Where

gssapi-with-mic and Win2K KDC?
Upgrading to the 3.8.x versions of OpenSSH appears to have broken support for Win2K KDC's. Win2K supports gssapi just fine, but the new gssapi-with-mic does not appear to work. I was able to use the old 3.6.x versions with Kerberos authentication, and the newer 3.7.x versions with gssapi authentication, but 3.8.x does not seem to work at all. The mitm patch provided for 3.8p1 does work, but
