Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun project. I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem. Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always despised them as a data

ADS valid users can't map a share to 3.0.21
I've got samba v3.0.21 on server 'RELIANT' with security=ADS I want MsWin XP clients, that have logged into Microsoft AD domain 'MYDOMAIN' to be able to map a drive to 'RELIANT', and to do so without having to authenticate again. I haven't been able to do so. Here's what happens: the XP client doesn't prompt for authentication (which is good,

Samba domain member losing membership
Hello all, I've recently posted here for help with a Samba domain member system which seems to lose it's domain membership. I want to discuss it a little more. I have more information. I'm after comments and suggestions for troubleshooting. Also, i say "loses membership" but i don't really know if it has lost it. Just doesn't work anymore until i re-join the Samba

Linux/Winbind AD domain member loses membership after about 4 days
Hi all, I have a Linux server running Samba (samba-*-3.5.10-115) and Winbind on CentOS 6.2. I've joined it to the domain using "net rpc join..." and it worked fine. "wbinfo -u" lists users as i'd expect. However, after a few days, the Linux server loses it's ability to see users on the domain. I restart all related services "smb, nmb, winbind" but still

pam_winbind - losing domain membership
Hello, I have the following setup: SuSE 9.1 with samba and winbind installed. On the other side is a nt4 domain. I can join the domain with "net rpc join DOMAIN -U administrator". wbinfo -u shows me alle the users etc. I integrated the pam_winbind.so in my pam configuration and users can login with their nt login and password. Everything works fine. After a while it seems that

Samba not honouring write/admin lists on shares
I'm running debian testing, so samba 3.05 atm. As of a few upgrades ago, which i think coincided with a library restructure or somewhat samba is no longer honouring read/write/admin lists on share definitions. Using the below share as an example, previously all users could access the share with read access, and those in the ntadmins group had write access. Since the upgrade users can only

Samba clients losing domain membership
Hello, we are currently in the process of migrating Windows machines to Ubuntu 10.04. For now, these machines act as samba clients in a Windows domain (which is controlled also by a samba PDC), and are itself sharing files via SMB/CIFS. The clients are - from time to time and with no apparent reason - losing their domain membership. When this happens, access to shares on the PDC still seems to

Sanba 2.0.6/2.0.7 Sometimes Loses Connections
Hello, everyone: I am very new to this list, and perhaps this has been brought up previously, so I apologize in advance if this has been asked before. I am taking over administration for Samba here, and the following was brought to my attention this morning: It seems if there is some sort of interruption of connectivity between the samba server and a subnet, samba will sometimes not renew

Bandwidth limited when shorewall is enabled
Hi, I''ve been having a really strange thing happen. I can''t remember when it happened, or if it coincided with a shorewall update, but if I have shorewall "running", my 100mbps connection is limited to about 1-6mbps per connection. This is with TC/Shaping/QoS disabled or enabled. I have no idea if its shorewall doing something funky or ipables or what, but if I

winbind not resolving group membership changes
I'm using Samba 3.0.33 (RHEL 5) to connect to a Windows 2008 active directory server. I am restricting SSH logins to a particular AD group. The users allowed to login will change frequently, so it's important to me that their group membership is updated when their access to this server is granted or revoked. The problem that I keep running into is that group membership on the

RHEL3 3.0.9 Release & Active Directory Membership
Some preliminary testing indicates that there may be problems in the newly released Red Hat 3.0.9 packages (not samba.org's) in regard to joining an AD as a full member (w/kerberos). This may also affect maintaining current membership in such an environment. If anyone has already upgraded and is experiencing the same or different behavior please let me know. Specifically we are seeing

NTLM_AUTH "require-membership-of" local groups?
I'm running Samba 3.0.9 on Fedora Core. I can authenticate against global groups via ntlm_auth, but authentication against local groups fails. Our network consists of multiple NT 4.0 domains. 1. Can ntlm_auth authenticate against local groups, or is it limited to global groups? 2. Can multiple global groups be designated as arguments to 'require-membership-of' in an 'OR'

Trouble with Winbind and domain group membership
Summary of problem: members of Active Directory groups cannot access Samba shares that their group membership should allow. I recently joined our Linux servers to our Windows 2003 domain using Samba/Winbind. The research and implementation were time-consuming, but the results made it all worthwhile. Unfortunately I am running into a problem relating to group membership on the domain as it

group membership + acl
During the last two years our fileserver was a VERITAS Samba-2.0.10-VRTS server. This Veritas version of samba contains a special ACL component for the uid <-> sid and gid <-> sid mapping. It also transparently converts Windows access rights to Unix access rights and vice versa. The recent changes in the Windows mbx driver forced us to move to Samba3. The uid mapping works without

Group membership not being honored
I've got a relatively simple permissions scheme I need to implement, and I'm having issues with group membership. I have a share that I need to grant an active directory group full control to. If I add an AD user to the ACL on the directory that is the root of the share, the user can access it. If I add an AD group to the ACL on that same directory, group members cannot access the
