sssd problems after dc1 is no longer online
Hi all, I hope that this request for help will be the last one, for a while to come. Today, sernet support helped my sort out our DC mess, and they did a great job. However, sssd no longer works, and I hope someone here can help out. We used to have DC1, DC2 and DC3. DC1 was the classic-upgraded, first, 'original' DC, and had to be shutdown, unfortunately. So only DC2 and DC3

Should I forget sssd ?
Hi again, Thanks again, Denis, Steve and Rowland for your previous answers about RFC2307 and winbind. Maybe I'm an dreamer but here is that I wanted to achieve : Ubuntu server 12.04.3, samba4 as PDC, several NICS : 1 LAN and 2/3 WANS Use a windows VM (on this server) to control AD through WRAT AD offers me the 'wishdom' of software deployment and GPO, users are can't install

[sssd] Not seeing Secondary Groups
I am currently looking at migrating my existing CentOS6 servers over to CentOS7 and am currently testing out my sssd configuration on the new build with some issues. For some reason I am unable to see any secondary groups for my user like I would expect, and the /etc/sssd.conf, /etc/nsswitch and related /etc/pam.d configurations should be the same for both my CentOS6 and 7 servers (Configuration

Mac OS X and ACL's
Hi all, I have a server that has ACL's enabled on it and the groups are set properly from the domain that are applied on top of it for the shared folders. I am running with Mac OS X 10.10.5 on the client side and am having nothing but issues with getting them to respect the ACL's set on the files. The Server Setup is as follows: Domain Server: Debian 7.9 with Samba 4.3.4 Member

Mac OS X and ACL's
I've reverted my test box fs back to winbindd and taken sssd out of the mix. I'd love some more help on this as its now faring better in testing than sssd with the macs, however I can set the users to be looked up but I'm having issues with having the names of the groups show up. It seems to be working however its now showing the GIDs as opposed to the group names. For instance

LDAP + SSSD + Winbind group membership updating
I broke my head trying to solve the LDAP group membership updating issue. I need help. ###### Description I've configured OpenLDAP + SSSD + Winbind + Samba 4.21.5 on Fedora 41. ## OpenLDAP: - There is a test user nomad with objectClass posixAccount, sambaSamAccount (uid, uidNumber, gibNumber, sambaSID, SambaNTPassword etc. configured via smbpasswd). - There are 2 test groups: admins,

Issues with mounting Samba shares after update
Actually it isn't part of AD at all. We are using FreeIPA and Samba. We just finally figured this out with the help of some folks at Red Hat. It turned out there was a bug in one of the libraries that came along with sssd (sssd-libwbclient I believe). Their suggestion to use winbind and the version of the same library that came with it seems to have solved our problem instantly. It

Apology for not enough protection of new R-devel
Dear R-devel subscribers, I'm feeling quite sheepish at the moment: When I had activated the change from majordomo to mailman this morning, I accidentally didn't activate the spam(+some virus) detection part. I've only activated it half an hour ago. Indeed there were twos message of the following kind sent from R-devel -- I did never seem them personally, because we *do* filtering

Winbind on Slackware - no auth but all the rest OK
Hi list, I got a Winbind issue that I'm stuck with since a very long time, this is getting ridiculous. On our Linux shell server (Slackware 9.1), I Installed the whole samba from self-compilation, tried many different configure options but mostly --without-pam --with-ldap, and everything required from all the HowTos I've read. I start winbindd via: # /usr/local/samba/sbin/winbindd -F -i

help - Theora/Vorbis/Ogg, ogmmerge and ffmpeg2theora
Hi, I'm probably being fairly stupid. But I did the following, starting with the following two files: # tcprobe -i vts_01.m2v [tcprobe] MPEG elementary stream (ES) [tcprobe] summary for vts_01.m2v, (*) = not default, 0 = not detected import frame size: -g 720x576 [720x576] aspect ratio: 16:9 (*) frame rate: -f 25.000 [25.000] frc=3 # tcprobe -i vts_01.m2a

[LLVMdev] [llvm-testresults] cfarm-x86-64 x86_64 nightly tester results
This nightly tester is now using an llvm-g++ that produces the new ODR linkage types. This means that many more functions are being considered by the inter-procedural optimization passes (for example, "linkonce" functions defined in a header). The result seems to be pretty huge swings (both good and bad) in the C++ tests in the testsuite, see below. Note that this tester is often

sssd keytab bug
Hello, This one is nasty... I followed the documentation on configuring sssd: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Sssd In the section on extracting the keytab, it says: - Extract the keytab for a domain account (you can use the machines[sic] account for that, too) and make sure it is readable only by root. The following example uses the machine account of the host „DC1“ So, I used the

sssd with ad backend and "ldap_id_mapping = false" refuse to start

Ubuntu SSSD Active Directory Authorization issue (group membership is not honored)
Hello all, after spending the last days fighting and researching I hope someone can point me to an solution here. Even if I am using Debian / Ubuntu since years I wouldn?t consider myself as a Linux professional. I have some experience though. What I try to accomplish: - Centrally administrated groups for file services. Right now it is only one server but there will be more. Setup: - System
