samba-tool dns query error WERR_INTERNAL_DB_ERROR [SOLVED]
Hi,
problem solved,
there was a problematic dns record that was causing this error.
in samba log i found this entry: "Unable to parse dns record for
dc=pc43564,dc=....."
using samba-tool dns delete, i was unable to delete the problematic record,
with the message "record not found",
so i deleted the record with ldap browser.
now everything is working as usual

debugging bind9_DLZ
On wiki page
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End#Reconfiguring_the_BIND9_DLZ_Back_End
in the "Debugging the Bind Module" the section discusses the location
for the log file.
The /etc/named.log says "bash: bind: -g: cannot read: No such file or
directory" . . . I am puzzled, what "file or directory" is being
referenced?

Find/delete bad DNS Entry
We added a DNS entry to Samba via the Windows DNS Manager which apparently
was invalid. Now we can't see the list of forward lookup in the Window DNS
Manager because it immediately errors and we have to restart the Samba
service.
Running Samba 4.3.11-Ubuntu on Ubuntu 16.04
Additionally, a samba-tool dns query fails with the following error:

Samba 4.0.7 DC in Windows 2003R2 AD
Greetings,
The ultimate goal is a full implementation of Samba4/OpenChange/SOGo but
that onion has too many layers to shoot for the whole thing at once. So,
I've added a Samba/Ubuntu12.04 DC to the AD and want to get it totally
correct before proceeding with OC. I have two questions (at the moment):
First, PAM is not included on the Samba DC and I need to know if it is a
requirement. The

Samba4/Windows DNS replication and administration issue
Hi all,
I am having trouble with DNS replication between a Linux/Samba 4.0.9 box and Windows Server 2012 domain controller, as well as administering the Linux DNS from the Windows DNS Manager snap-in.
First a little background. I am trying to integrate a Samba 4.0.9 server as a domain controller in an existing Windows Active Directory domain. The domain and forest are at Windows 2008R2

Recently joined 2k3, shut down primary, seized roles, now have slight dns (maybe) problem.
Hello All,
As per the subject, we have recently joined a w2k3 domain folowing
instructions on wiki as well as well as relying on valuble information on
the list. The steps we took were the following:
Join samba as secondary
Created dns records by hand (ldbsearch, samba-tool dns add)
Checked replication
Copied sysvol
Transferred some roles from windows

Where can I find the slirp-helper?
For the libvirt 5.8 release, I find that there is a new comment in
qemu.conf:
#slirp_helper = "/usr/bin/slirp-helper"
It indicates that there is a slirp-helper to help setup slirp network. But
I cannot
find it even after I built the latest qemu(v4.1.0-1378-g98b2e3c9ab) and
libvirt
(v5.9.0-rc1-2-g73f91d659b).
Could you please tell me where I can find that helper program?
Thanks

samba_dlz Failed to configure reverse zone
And some more information about this strange effect apparently no-one
has seen before.
I now added the missing zone:
samba-tool dns zonecreate verdandi 10.16.172.in-addr.arpa -U Administrator
and it claims that the zone is okay, but the next one is missing:

Samba 4 replication causes bind dns to freeze
Hello,
Joined a new samba 4 dc to an existing pair of samba 4 domain controllers,
but i have a problem with replication.
5-10 minutes after starting samba services on the new samba 4 server,
both dns servers on the old Domain controllers freeze. Nothing works.
all i can do is to kill all the services (ntp, named, samba) and start over
again.
i get this message on new dc in this file:

Find/delete bad DNS Entry
Thanks for the reply Denis!
I tried upgrading samba and it said "2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.13" is the latest version.
The RSAT DNS Manager fails to list the contents of the zone. It actually kills the SMBD process when I try and I have to restart it. So I can't compare it to Apache Directory Studio.
Is there some way to query the underlying samba DNS data store to find the
