Issue on DEBUG statement
Hi,
I was running samba-4.1.4 successfully on my fedora till the below issue occurs.
I had put some simple DEBUG statements in "lib/util/debug.c" (reopen_logs_internal() and some other funcs) file to understand the logging mechanism.
And the same is compiled fine without any issues. And I started my samba service(both nmbd and smbd), I got "(core dumped) segmentation fault"

How to know which protocol version clients use?
Hello,
I currently run samba with
server min protocol = NT1
but I need to move towards
server min protocol = SMB2
is there any way I can detect which clients still use the older protocol
versions? I would like to estimate the impact of the change before i do
close NT1/SMB1.
Thank and kind regards,

Asterisk 11 - How to trim the number of modules to minimum ?
Hi,
I've got a brand new Asterisk 11 setup for which I would like to keep the
number of loaded modules to a minimum.
My goal is to this setup in a pure SIP environment, for switching incoming
calls to outgoing tSIP trunks.
When I leave autoload=yes in /etc/asterisk/modules.conf, I can handle an
incoming SIP call with a Playback app.
When I leave autoload=no in /etc/asterisk/modules.conf, it

[RFC] virtio_pci draft spec
Hi all,
http://ozlabs.org/~rusty/virtio-spec/
I've been working on a draft spec for virtio PCI. It also serves (via the
appendices) as a spec for the various devices we have.
It's not entirely uptodate with latest changes, but it's a start.
Commentry and patches welcome (against the lyx source pref.)
Thanks,
Rusty.

Docs - Structure Musings
IMHO, our big picture challenge is that multiple explanations for
several topics are spread out over several different docs and pages One
parameter is frequently discussed in four or more places (QSG, files
reference pages, file comments, main documentation, etc.) That gives
multiple perspectives, which can be good, but can also lead to at least
the appearance, especially to a beginner, of

SMB Multichannel not working?
Hello,
I, like many before me, am having an issue with SMB multichannel. I am running Samba v4.10.16 (package is provided by Amazon) on an Amazon Linux 2 EC2 instance. I am aware that SMB multichannel is an experimental feature until 4.15, but the documentation states it is supported so I would like to evaluate it.
We have had reports of performance degradation when certain workloads (heavy

Proposal for virtio standardization.
Hi all,
I've had several requests for a more formal approach to the
virtio draft spec, and (after some soul-searching) I'd like to try that.
The proposal is to use OASIS as the standards body, as it's
fairly light-weight as these things go. For me this means paperwork and
setting up a Working Group and getting the right people involved as

Huge number of small files performance regression from 3.5.16 to 4.6.5 with identical smb.conf
Hello Samba experts,
I have just successfully replaced the old default Thecus Samba version
3.5.16 on my Thecus NAS (32-bit Intel Atom, 3 GB RAM, i686 Thecus kernel
2.6.33) by a current Samba 4.6.5 build that I have cross-compiled myself
from scratch.
Note that so far, I am using the unchanged (i.e. exactly identical) old
3.5.16 smb.conf file for 4.6.5.
Everything seems to work fine in

Confidence intervals PLS prediction
I have switched from The Unscrambler to R for pls regression analysis and
have been able to calculate scores, coefficients, RMSEP from a large number
of PLS1 and PLS2 models. The ultimate goal is to use these models for
predicting unknown samples, which again is straight-forward with the
built-in predict() function. However, I?m struggling with prediction
uncertainty (i.e. confidence intervals) on

new book on R and S-PLUS
Dear R and S list members:
I've just published a book entitled An R and S-PLUS Companion to Applied
Regression. The book introduces R and S-PLUS in the context of linear and
generalized-linear models, and assumes familiarity with -- or a
simultaneous course or text on -- these topics. I thought that the book
might be of interest to the members of these lists or to their students.

Getting help on the new features of 2.1.0
Already we have seen several questioners confused by the new features of
2.1.0. Resources which may help:
- Read the R-admin manual. It has changed a lot, and covers setting up
locales and languages as well as changes to the configure options.
Everyone should read chapter 6 (Internationalization), and all those
building from source on Unix should read Appendices A and B.
